  1. I have a well insulated extension, and no issues like yours I’m 50metres from a river.
  2. Can a larger heat pump modulate down to a lower rating? Similar To modern condensing boilers?
  3. Is the 50mm not a duct to pass the 28mm through later?
  4. Slate and mortar normally but maybe not for 30mm but I think the steel packer is the best solution
  5. https://www.gov.scot/publications/building-standards-technical-handbook-2019-domestic/3-environment/3-14-ventilation/ 3.14.6 Trickle ventilators last paragraph To assist air movement within dwellings with an air infiltration rate of less than 10m3/hr/m2@ 50 Pa, trickle ventilation to rooms with dMEVs could be formed by “undercutting” the room door to achieve an air space of at least 8,000mm2. This air space should be clear of any actual or notional floor coverings.
  6. We only undercut doors when additional ventilation is required, but cannot recall a regulation , more an architect note.
  7. Connecting copper direct to boilers isn’t a problem, it is for plastic in the event of fire, plastic melts, copper doesn’t copper has antimicrobial properties. copper is generally going to be easy to alter in the future, where as plastic fittings may be specific and become obsolete. Copper doesn’t sag and looks better with brass stand-off clips. first impressions copper looks proper in a plant room, plastic looks like a builders been at the plumbing.
  8. He might hang it out for 2 days so you think it’s a bargain
  9. Water leaks under the floor may be a source of additional moisture
  10. My Install is the same as CPD, which is the norm, around my area.

  12. personally given the cost I would give a cable a bash, 305m in a box. Worth an experiment, even running 200m off the drum and sticking some ends on it. appreciate it’s meant to be 100m
  13. Copper for me? but it depends on the install, so plant rooms , visible pipework all copper, anything that could be threaded through joists happy with Hep20 plenty of full bore isolators to split install into smaller parts, for ease of installation, and isolating when something goes wrong
  14. Make sure you aerate the lawn I was told, does make a difference, I’ve given up and will be doing Astro turf next year
  15. I use one of these https://www.sunrisetools.co.uk/other/dragon-puffer-airflow-indicator-kit.html
  16. Do you want to explain mixing mortar?
  17. We bought ours from online kitchens great service, no connections.
  18. Wouldn’t think so, too much movement, likewise why you don’t rule straight onto floorboards maybe if you overlaid with Plywood first
  19. I used Self Build Insurance for my insurance policy. Have a search on line for them

2nd Dec ASHP - or not

Stick with the UFH. the manifold will take a supply from an oil boiler or an ASHP, after all it’s only looking to pump hot water through a circuit doesn’t care how it’s heated.
  21. https://www.ductstore.co.uk/acatalog/Round_Vents___Wall_Cowls.html Don’t know what the rainwater goods look like but some in here look ok
  22. Ok use the metal wire at 2 points on the overlap and run down the length of the mesh, imagine every 200mm would be adequate so 2 rows of tie wire on the overlap, no harm in staggering the ties. if you need more add more.
  23. Yep, overlap and tied as per SE instructions
