  7. Was the plumber paid direct to you or the main contractor? If you fine, otherwise I would be speaking to the main contractor all the time for all the defects and let them organise trades
  8. Payment after agreed stages are complete.
  9. Maybe worth adding another loft hatch to get better access to the underside of the roof/ assist with diagnosing problem.
  10. You can’t say you are going to do a good job if you aren’t insulating under the UFH. ?
  11. If you are flipping the flat for profit, what gives more profit. Radiators or UFH?
  12. Sorry to see you are having problems. good luck
  13. It’s not the first flat with concrete floors and ceiling to get rewired and new heating system. Post a layout drawings of the flat, showing boiler positions, cupboards etc you can make box skirtings to hide pipes, put radiators back to back etc UFH will be pants in this flat
  14. https://www.navitron.org.uk/forum/index.php/topic,29794.0.html close??

  16. What Dave says I used 35mm thick timber as I needed 47mm deep boxes for cooker points and data points.
  17. I was in B&Q this morning and picked up some adjustable decking joist supports. look like plastic dinner plates that spin to adjust height. 10 for £14. I’m going to use these to build a bike store at the side of the house
  18. No you can’t mix and match different manufacturers
  19. Sounds reasonable that the whole RCD is faulty if it’s not holding in after all that fault diagnosis don’t know what spares are like for a like for like replacement RCD , may be cheaper to replace the whole board £ 30 -£40 at screwfix.
  20. http://www.civil-engineering-calculators.com/Quantity-Estimator/Excavation-Calculator Afraid I just left the guys to it, thankfully the guys doing the excavation also own the village dump /skip company so excavation costs were minimal. soil does bulk up when excavated approx 30/40%. So take this into account.
  21. It’s not good, so cancel the screed until this is resolved. how thick is the insulation? is there any up the sides of the walls on the external walls. have you looked at the manufacturer instructions for the system that’s installed? That will give you specific info to discuss with the ‘plumbers’
  22. Flow & Pressure should be checked, but that can change depending on the network which can change with local issues, bursts, extra load on the network such as new housing schemes.lots of variables.
  23. Agree with ProDave, be careful. I excavated approx 140 tonnes to create my driveway and had to hold up the corner of my house and garden with a 2.5 metre high wall, luckily old school builder and SE did a great job
  24. Oh and make sure all appliances are switched off and lights off as you switch anything on watch for power going off invade this helps prove part of circuit/appliance causing issue
