That’s a fair point, the 3 sides that are in the wall isn’t a problem, and the front does require a clean. i use a wipe and push it into the gap and pull it along, takes 2 minutes.

Which you can confirm with a multimeter

Isn’t it just a volt drop problem so increasing the csa of the conductor would let the distance be greater.
-
The point where you plan to provide power from should have a line/live, neutral and earth. you don’t need to go back to the consumer unit, unless of course it’s more convenient for cabling reasons
-
I’ve heard from installers that you should leave a gap in the adhesive I.e. not a continuous bead around the perimeter to let air in.

Dot and Dab vs adhesive for insulated plasterboard
TonyT replied to AliG's topic in General Construction Issues
Don’t let the builder dictate how you want it done after you have researched it, cause 90% of the time his method will be a shortcut to save him time, effort or materials or a combination of all 3. At work I insist that walls/floors are inspected prior to a covering/plasterboard being applied to ensure no shortcuts. -

My pipe is outside, it’s only 600mm diameter to let a pump float switch and pump sit without obstruction. we could have done it with conductivity probes and a smaller diameter pipe, but the way we did it was simpler and cheaper
