  1. A quick screw fix search shows 8watt led fittings that will be bright. Agreed with leaving the switch on and buying pir fittings
  2. Required some brick work repairs due to large stone removal but nothing excessive
  3. My stonemason knocked through to create a door for me, used a kango and started in the middle. once you get one stone out the rest is easy. Wall was the original gable random rubble wall approx 700mm thick 2 masons and 1 labourer 1 day and 1 full 8 yard skip plus multiple concrete lintels added in too.
  4. NHBC regs? I thought building standards wrote the regs?
  5. Plastic sleeve in the hole?
  6. Put all the cabling in as part of the build, get completion and then do the PV, that’s what I’m doing on my mates house, council not happy with PV panels and other things so humouring them to get planning and will do it afterwards.
  7. Get someone to drill holes and take dust samples at the ‘damp’ locations to then do a speedy carbide test to prove ‘damp’
  8. Forget nylocks double nut all the way!
  9. Remember the split washer after the normal washer ?
  10. The nut side
  11. I’m done, thought this thread would be different to the first painful one.
  12. Isn’t an external air kit only required if the stove is above 5kW?
  13. No not really, now is the time to minimise the grief during and after the next installation- time to be a bit more proactive. the table I linked to should advise you of what they plan to install, all you need to do is work out the size of your home and decide it’s age and double glazed level etc.
  14. I doubt your neighbour or SEPA will Let you use their connection. I would get the quotes for the underground services sorted to see what’s left for the build Maybe build in stone?
  15. Page 30 from them gives a house size indicator- based on the your house using their spreadsheet what size would you hope to see installed?
  16. What size are they planning on fitting? https://www.vaillant.co.uk/downloads/product-brochures/arotherm-brochure-2006193.pdf
  17. Before, and just cover them up particularly Hard wood as advised by my plasterer.
  18. Impact drills are too noisy. I purchased a twin pack drill and only ever use the normal drill
  19. Get a local joiner to build it !
  20. Best get them to survey the property, do the heat loss calculations etc and then propose something
  21. It’s time consuming so watch out when you say you want to do a lot yourself running a business and looking after the kids is hard enough, but then going down to site after family time and spending hours on site and sometimes not seeing progress can be demoralising. Sometimes it’s better to earn and pay a trade.
  22. Would it be easier to increase the thickness of the timber service batten? More room for lights, more circulation space for light fitting to dissipate heat
  23. Is there not an external aerial connection?
