  1. Geberit frame is great .... which reminds me i must cure the creak mine has developed as everything has settled.
  2. Good morning and welcome. Cellars were built to be cold and damp .... a railway modelers and model engineers nightmare. Dig out some of the floor, sand layer (blinding) DPM (Damp Proof Membrane / plastic sheet) insulation and then concrete or the flags if you have them. plus some background heating.
  3. Edge shots! happens (with air guns) a lot when you are holding the trigger and bounce nailing. get too close to the edge and they go straight through. We were trebling up some trusses on trestles when my brother got a rebound from thge floor and embedded a couple of inches into his A*&e cheek. Really funny watching someone pull a 4" annular ring nail out with a claw hammer.
  4. I cant see a video but the level shows very little fall. Surface tension of water will prevent it flowing. If you have an offcut, put some water on it (rainwater, not softened water as this flows easier) and slowly incline the piece, you will be surprised what water will hang onto.
  5. We started erecting commercial buildings in the early 90`s with standing seen roofs. Several failed prematurely due to corrosion with the poor quality stainless posts. The very low angle will not shed condensate making matters even worse. We ended up recommending posts had a pvc (insulating tape) isolator between them and the aluminium sheets.
  6. Freud blades every time (unless you need a flat top tooth for joinery). Go for 48 tooth as a good all rounder.
  7. Good idea, saves having all the plug in things
  8. Just re read the original post and have to agree, plus the ICF would not support the bar close to the wall increasing the likelihood of bending.
  9. M12 threaded rod needs 75mm embedment to be at full pull out strength. Floating shelves will mainly impose bending and shear loads so even 50mm into concrete is sufflicient
  10. Tapered structures are a pain to get right. Joints and details are awkward but do able. the biggest problem is aesthetics and the roof line, especially if hips and/or sloping roof is visible. Computer models are great but if the visual impact is important then its worth knocking up a temporary structure from timbers and string lines to get an idea how the tapered faces will look.
  11. Wow! i think i would be finding a unit that had a suitable face plate and filters etc, cutting away all the unwanted collector box and fitting it into a bespoke box that worked with the space i had.
  12. This depends on the structure. A metal roof on a timber frame (insulator) is a large collector area but not ground path so strikes are unlikely. If the metal roof is attached to a steel structure then all the columns are ground paths and a strike will radiate through the roof and to ground via multiple columns with little to no damage or effect.
  13. Well done, love the house and views
  14. It should remain full, the excess is discharged via the vent pipe. They do getr gummed up with sediment and gunk that needs cleaning out occasionally
  15. lead should be left to oxidize and protect itself, any (to my knowledge) coating shortens the life of the lead by allowing it to degrade. If moss is attached then i would say the coating is Bitumen
  16. I predict a `You've Been Framed` moment .... please video it.
  17. That is a heavy breaker to be holding up to remove render. Its a good bit of kit for occasionally breaking up a path or drive etc. I would go for a much smaller hammer drill where you can select just hammer.
  18. why .002? surely that would be 2mm depth per hour.
  19. If you have a window that opens then fan not needed
  20. Good morning and welcome
  21. Now thats a cool anchor, havent seen those before. I would have beefed up the area with additional OSB layers to distribute cantilever loads and give fixings something to get hold of.
  22. very nice
  23. Morning, you only need to wait to back fill the basement, you can get on with the ICF walls withing a few days of the pour.
  24. Maceration units are ok for a basement as a last resort when you need to push waste uphill. Otherwise avoid like the plague. On upstairs floor boards it would sound like a road drill vibrating through the house . then people avoid using them because they become self concious of everyone else knowing they are using the loo.... ...
