Can the BCO require a job to be done by a given date?
Dave Jones replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Building Regulations
yes they can ONLY if its a defect found on the final inspection. -
make the hallway narrower and the lounge larger.

First floor UFH on Beam and Block - Insulation issue.
Dave Jones replied to MMcGill's topic in Underfloor Heating
yes this is a little barmy but 30mm of EPS will help with sound transmission I guess, just need to allow for the FFL on intermediate floors now as well... or put the pipes in without insulation and just dont connect them at manifold. sign off then re-connect. -

Streetfield Flat Roof Warranty

id be more interested on the design of the warm roof, what VCL and where etc. If its a parapet wall how the capping will be detailed. EDPM every time over GRP for me. -

another vote for pozi's. correctly glued deck doesnt squeek and they bounce less than beams. -
is the land owner upstream or downstream of the tank ? If downstream surely you can just connect to the existing pipe without any need for permission from them ?

you dont need insulation on the intermediate floors. Get the shell airtight instead and you be laughing. -
nope. you dont want to trap moisture in the house unless you have something to remove it. a cold roof removes it.

100mm spacing max for low flow temp. put the loops everywhere, excluding chunks of the slab just reduces the overall efficiency by making the surrounding loops work herder.
-
The costs between the two are not small. But i agree warm is better but has more potential for problems if not done correctly which a cold roof doesn't.
-
you need to ask whoever designed the cut roof (SE?) as tinkering with his design (if BCO spots it) will be an issue. why are you struggling for head height ? a standard/low ceiling is 2.4m a normal door 1.98m. You are lower than this ? There are some workarounds but curious why the design has failed.

Foundation Block versus standard blocks and Celcon blocks for both cavities
Dave Jones replied to LSB's topic in Foundations
hire a 6 or 9 ton dumper for the day to move the concrete. they are peanuts a week from GAP nothing stopping you putting in a temporary track either. -
a cold roof SHOULD have lots of air flow this is correct. As mentioned just seal the cable hole with 330.

my guess would be the crack is evidence of no lintel. hard to tell but looks like a solid wall from the width, the added weight on the trusses when it was converted as loaded up that wall and it wasnt designed for it. Get a RICS survey so you (mortgage company) have someone to sue if it all goes pete tong in a years time.

What stage of build to put passive purple/blower
Dave Jones replied to health mechanic's topic in Brick & Block
do you have the windows, doors and 1st floor ceilings in ? It's going to leak like a sieve around those joists....
