  1. These came up on a Google search. https://www.window-openers.com/rv-2900-battery-window-opener/ https://www.window-openers.com/ks3040-electric-window-opener/
  2. Plenty of remote control window openers, to save having an accident.
  3. We've definitely got two hedgehogs although not all the time. Sometimes it's just a one night stand. Hog hump short.mp4
  4. Solvent weld waste pipe is 56mm. Pipe Sizes and Dimensions Chart.doc
  5. We use only Miele washing machines and dishwashers and have done for a very long time. Never had a problem and the ten year warranty is worth it.
  6. Hi, welcome to the forum. Have you checked for blocked filters?
  7. It's a good idea having a pergola to reduce solar gain. For our roof window glazing we have a G factor of 0.3 IIRC, which keeps solar gain very low.
  8. @Mr PC We designed our MVHR system ourselves and used a branched layout with plastic ducting. It was straightforward and has worked well. It doesn't require space for manifolds but does need space for straight runs of ducting so works well with metal web joists.
  9. Sometimes it just needs a little prod.
  10. Well done, it's looking good. It's a great feeling when you can finally move in.
  11. It depends on where you live. There's a big difference between Cornwall and The Shetland Isles.
  12. Look on your local council website construction or environmental health page. This is an example:- https://www.cheltenham.gov.uk/info/66/environmental_protection_and_pollution/910/construction_and_building_sites
  13. I've been looking for one of those for ages and all I can find is emojis.
  14. You could build a sparrow terrace with Buffalo Board, they aren't at all fussy.
  15. I guess that's goldfinches. We feed them niger seed and also sunflower hearts which they are keen on. We had a flock of eighteen one day in the winter.
  16. If the doors and windows are open all the time then there won't be a requirement for MVHR but there will be a requirement for a lot of space heating unless you like living in a low temperature house. As @JFDIY says air con is the best way of cooling the house down.
  17. We had two planning applications refused by the LPA and then went to appeal which was also refused. We took all of the Planning Inspectorates comments into account with our third application which was also refused by the LPA. We then, with support from our local councillor, took the application to the Planning Committee which supported us unanimously and overturned the refusal. There were lots of compromises made to get the approval, but we still like the design.
  18. You persuade the authorities that it's an essential journey and I'll come and help .
  19. The need for heating, underfloor or not, is not related to the need for MVHR, which is driven by airtightness.
  20. The board just needs to be supported both sides of the cut line for the full length of the board. Then I would cut with an old fine tooth wood saw.

    Today's work

    Neat plumbing.
  22. I used a 28mm Floguard but there are alternatives at BES that are cheaper.
  23. I put noggins in the walls and also had to put some in the ceilings between the metal web joists where the stud wall walls joined the ceiling for the plasterboard to be fixed to.
  24. We had several quotes for the asbestos removal which ranged from £4400 to well over double that and it cost us less to have the concrete crushed on site and reused than to be taken away and new sub-base brought in. This was all done a couple of years ago. I put an entry on my blog about it.
  25. We did our own demolition of the old bungalow, gave away or sold all the old materials except the concrete which we had crushed on site to use as sub-base.
