why are you constrained to 350mm? a 350mm i beam filled with cellulose will give you 0.1 u value but will have cladding on outer surface

so not an apprenticeship then? they are now between 2-4yrs. surely the lecturers would have been giving you the tolerances required which will be far tighter than on site just looked online and surprised at the tolerance for level 2. https://www.cityandguilds.com/-/media/productdocuments/construction/trades/6705/6705_level_2/assessment_materials/6705-23_practical_task_manual-pdf.ashx

yup, if you leave to door swinging you can paint all five surfaces with minimal dust sheeting. the temperature won't help drying if outdoors and if doing it indoors leave it hung.

Blown In Cellulose (Warmcell) Insualtion MATERIAL prices
Simplysimon replied to Patrick's topic in Heat Insulation
@Patrick i'm going down the blown cellulose route but could only find man with supply prices. i missed by a month, a cellulose blowing machine on ebay. i'd be interested in splitting a load, problems arise with 'what if a load isn't enough' and then i'd need to find a man with a machine. -
i'd be removing the course of bricks under the kit replacing it with a course of 140mm marmox under the blockwork to break the cold from below. i'd also be staggering, where possible the courses to block on flat.

in scotland where the roof has sarking the bellcast or edge lift to slow the water is constructed using tilting fillets (ripped triangular timber) nailed to rafters the boarded over. this allows the slates to lay flat, usually the first course is laid horizontally. looking at the pic, the first course nails look to be left proud to support the next course which seems a good idea, however i wouldn't want anyone walking up the roof with all those unsupported slates.

door stop fitted to the head first, 1-1.5mm clearance on hinging side running to tight on striking side. hinging side clearance equal to top and parallel, striking side tight to door. cut edge of mdf if coated with neat pva left to dry and sanded will be as good a finish as face. where's the copyright credit for city and guilds pic?
