  1. Welcome @Yvonne fleming Where about in the country are you
  2. Dries out quicker and the stove only has a small door
  3. Well it works a treat 6 cuts for 2x 4Ah batteries but that suits me fine as I can do my supply of wood a bit at a time. Now stored under the hut for a season or more to dry out
  4. I’d go with the builder as the new roof isn’t that big. If I understand correctly the new layout means rain from one garage roof will run onto the neighbours garage roof then into his gutter? you could offer to replace the gutter at the back for both garages...looks like next door doesn’t even have a gutter
  5. Your pictures are good, print it off and mark and tick off as you count, add10% them round up to the best order price and you’re there?
  6. Welcome @KTCastle have got some nice pictures to show us? The build that is...? but I’m sure the kids are lovely too
  7. Joiner mate priced this sort of thing a decade ago and concluded he could not come anywhere near the TF company by doing it himself If your labour is free, that’s different
  8. This is not a house but I kept my panels to 3m which one person can just about lift, easy with two. Blog here I did have plenty of ramblers passing by who were happy to help... the memorable ones where the three generations of Norn Irn farmers who knew masses about building, hands like shovels too! Three 90+ ladies ( I kid you not) from Palm beach, Florida dressed in pastel terry towelling jump suits and full make up (they declined to help lift OSB to the roof) but had very negative things to say about the then Republican nominee, The Donald. One lady was a retired property attorney with direct experience of him welching on a deal and not paying his debts... And finally the couple of twenty something pony tailed nurses from Sussex who did help lift a panel onto the pile but seemed fairly suspicious of the motives of the middle aged man asking for a hand, oops. They didn’t take their rucksacks off or stop for a blether either Happy days if you work in the spring/summer and even better if you have some help now and then?
  9. Check out these https://www.wholesaledomestic.com/bathroom-suites/toilets/back-to-wall-toilets This one £167 https://www.wholesaledomestic.com/rak-tonique-close-coupled-back-to-wall-toilet-with-soft-close-seat-tonbtwpak015
  10. Oh and @Declan52 ?????
  11. None of them are pretty are they? ive got one but can’t say I notice much difference but it was £30. good witchcraft though-no batteries visible at all, reckon it’s like a watch battery hidden somewhere you can’t find. If you paint one of the fan blades white and get stoned on the teenagers green, it can be a talking-point when the conversation dries up...
  12. Maybe @Brickie it @PeterW might know good luck Uni boy?
  13. Surely that’s going to wobble and move...? Can you drive a big power w/chair around it with a driver that makes mistakes, cos you know folk do put a wheel off the edge etc
  14. Ooft goodness me... I thought that was a picture of the mould and thought by f¥ck that’s serious! mega big mushrooms under your floor
  15. If it’s not a flat (maybe a semi) and not a great safety risk...they have enough work dealing with the day job. Here in Glasgow they have an enforcement team but this is a city with loads of flats/tenements and commercial builds. Reckon where you are they don’t have the resources but who knows if someone calls in
  16. Post up some pictures @zoothorn lots of pictures please ?
  17. Uses 2x LXT batteries 14’’ bar DUC 353z £160 for the bare machine reviews look really good, what does the forum think? the Mrs is well pleased as she has a potential Christmas present for me and it’s November! Anybody else a hard to buy for fella??

    Stove

Maybe a carefully designed cement board boxing in job? in my hut the twin wall goes via a ceiling for four feet before exiting the roof. The roof space is dead and fully sealed so no storage or access. I made a cement board lined ‘tunnel’ that surrounds the twin wall. Was worried about any risk of fire what with kids and an all timber structure. Cement board is cheap and easily available so might be worth experimenting with?

    Stove

What @ProDave said...fire it up for three hours and see how hot the twin flue feels. My thermometer (on the bottom uninsulated flue) gets hottest (300*+) with dried kindling and a cool 200* with coal
  21. Welcome Nige ive a good mate who is a Nigel and we spoke about the annual league table of new names for babies. Seems there were no Nigel’s at all in England last year... Anyway less nonsense, welcome too from Scotland ?
  22. Speak for ones self Ferdy?
  23. I think I do. your truss plan is a unique shape the pic of the on site truss is symmetrical both are not the same if the walls are staggered on site (I suspect they are not!) then this try’s will mean a sloping ceiling but the walls on site will be plumb and level so the outcome might be slightly different, in that, the verge of existing build will be ever do slightly out of parallel with the verge of the extension BTW this stuff is murder to explain using words that’s why everyone wants photos or updated plans of what’s on site good luck Zoot
  24. Stick a matchstick or two in the knob and tighten gently
