Velux clicks, not quite as per instructions
Nestor replied to Ed Davies's topic in Skylights & Roof Windows
Thats the right video to remove the sash from the frame, follow these exact instructions. As @PeterW said once Top hung installed push up as far as possible and the springs will engage. Depending on the pitch of your roof you can adjust the spring tension. Anything less than 45 degrees you will need to make an adjustment. Inside the frame is a tab which you lift and move down, on both sides. This video at 23 mins shows this and also how to disengage the springs. -
Velux clicks, not quite as per instructions

I think you need to disengage the springs. Screwdriver inside the side of the frame and click upwards. https://www.jjroofingsupplies.co.uk/blog/good-roofing-guide/videos/ They have clear instructions. . -
Velux clicks, not quite as per instructions
Nestor replied to Ed Davies's topic in Skylights & Roof Windows
Hi Ed, I fitted 7 Velux in the summer and initially had the same problem. The instructions are not very clear or detailed.. Are these Top hung or centre pivot, this is what Velux sent me. Disengaging GPL_GPU Springs.pdf I found a video online which was much clearer. Will look. -
I did go and look at the Euroclad in Cardiff, great product, similar price to Tata, but you do need to rent a seamer tool at £290.00 per 2 weeks if installing yourself. The finish is similar to Tata, up close you can see the pattern on the coating. in no way does it look plasticky once it is on. I am in a National Park, showed them both Euroclad and Tata, they chose tata but what do they know? My advice is choose another colour than anthracite........ it really does depend if you are fitting yourself and budget. I have 300+ sqm to fit, have fun.

Hi Russ, FYI Tata Urban Colorcoat was about £36.00 sq/m in 06/17 once you included eaves, ridge and verge and delivery.....

Best simple ideas and concepts to design in to new build
Nestor replied to albert's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Hi Joe Can you let me know your first floor build up as I am about to start plaster boarding and would like to eliminate as much noise as reasonably possible. My son's bedroom is under ours. My first floor build up is: 20mm timber floor 20mm Overfloor EPS400 (Wunda UFH) 22mm Caberdek glued and screwed 225x47 floor joists at 400 centres filled with 100mm Rockwool, I could increase Rockwool. 12mm Plasterboard -
Gluelam connectors

I have 10.5m steel spliced together with cover plate as the drawing enclosed. Unrelated to Glulam but might be helpful. -
I bought 3 sets of quality fibreglass platform step ladders, 1m, 1.5m and 2m platform heights. Would recommend them.

I fitted 7 x 3g Velux roof lights in the summer. I cannot fault them, excellent design from opening the box, fitting and flashing kits. Just obey the instructions. We have Velux black out blinds, lots of other options. https://www.velux.co.uk/products/blinds-and-shutters Did price up against Keylite but too close after Velux reward scheme included. Also excellent customer service.

I used Aspect Windows in Exeter. No issue with our Internorm's supplied and fitted. They also supplied and fitted Kastrup which are outward opening 3G timber / alu windows and doors.

I have just fixed 1200 metres of UFH pipe on the ground floor , screeders booked for next week. I would recommend doing the studwork first for all designated rooms with their own zone. For the kitchen I measured and marked where the island and units will sit after screed applied.

Hi Ben I stick built our self build, about 300sqm. Biggest issue is time. With a TF company I gather you can be watertight within weeks but that comes at a cost. Ours was 95% watertight within months but over a year later still not done final cladding. Much pleasure to be had in stick building and easier to adjust / alter. Other factor is cost. My kit frame would have cost in excess of 85K where as half that for stick build. Have fun.

Hi @lizzie You are not alone with issues. The Internorm slider (no leaks but some minor damage) was ok regarding the installation, the other 26 windows were not. Fitted back in April and by coincidence they are replacing the wavey 3G glass tomorrow. I will keep you updated.
-
@lizzie @Barney12 Thought I would join in as I have Internorm HS330 sliders. Enclosed are 2 photographs. 1547 is shot from inside looking out and shows a small circular hole. I assume this is to drain any rain which hits the glass and drains outside above the rubber strip. 1544 the drainage slot to the outside and runs down the outside of the rubber curtain. Does this help?

Tata Urban Colorcoat Metal Seam Roofing
Nestor replied to Barney12's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
Don't pay Tata that bill, buy your own silicone and screws from Screwfix. Product very good, sales and service poor. I would buy again after having fitted 300sqm though they did not supply enough Velux jointing fabs, no apology just another invoice. Will update later. -
Most standard doors are 2040 in height. Might be helpful, https://www.howdens.com/doors/external/flush-doors/plywood-flush-external-door-obj-sku-family-11831279?productFamilyId=DXF0470&skuId=DXF0470

@PeterW @ProDave Can I confirm that this applies to an attached garage. I have just started building our garage which is detached and using OSB on the walls and standard plaster board for the ceiling.

Hi Lizzie Does it all work ok, do you set each room independently or off a central hub, Wifi or wired?
-
Wunda have offered Heatmiser as an alternative. Perfect for the price.
-
Hi Nick Just wanted to be able to set each stat temp time / 7 day week etc, Had not planned on a central hub but could be persuaded. Wunda have not offered this as an option.
-
I have been specified the same thermostat X 14 from Wunda for our wet UFH, however the design is not quite doing it for me, are there any alternatives any one can recommend? Thank you. @PeterW @Nickfromwales
