  1. I’m guessing that it is your lender that is insisting on this As a condition of drawdown The implication would be Would be that you would have to temporary fence the plot off to stop anyone wandering on to the plot If your not borrowing and it is just a solicitor thing Then you can do as you please
  2. It may not be on any use to you I fitted all our kitchen but left the quarts to the exsperts There seem to be two major players Both in my neck of the woods One at Southport The other 3 miles away in Preston Granite U.K. We went with Granite UK The more expensive of the two It took six to carry the the island worktop in and they were going to kick there shoes off on the way in There guy that came to do the templates spent four hours checking and re checking There’s only a small amount that I haven’t done myself and the few bits I’ve brought a contractor in Ive not been happy with Onthe day the wofktops where fitted I was tied up at another job Im quite picky ( Very) They did a faultless job im not sure how comitted you are But a may be worth giving these guys a try
  3. We are in now and have never mentioned it to the building inspector I don’t think he or she will care As long as when we get round to sign off all boxes are ticked
  4. It would be making work to virtually complete the ground floor Then start the first floor It would Quicker and cost effective to first fix both together and lees likely to damage newly painted plaster on the ground floor
  5. Concreting a drainage pipe is quite normal Exspecially if it cuts across a drive Running a mains water in a footing is ridiculous and concreting over it is pretty stupid Services should be in a designated trench and be wyap certified I think Russel sumed it up perfectly You can’t trust someone llike this

  9. We have been getting quotes for blinds and internal shutters Some the quotes are eye watering I’ve installed sash windows throughout Which are nice but exspensive the first quote was more than we paid for the windows There doesn’t look much to fitting the shutters or blinds I guessing that a chunk of the price is for fitting I’ve looked online and there are quite a few supply only companies The blinds look the same At a fraction of the price Has anyone used these online suppliers
  10. Very sad Our kitchen company wanted 9k of the 18k suply only upfront Said they wouldn’t accept a credit card on a large amount We contacted our credit card company and they told us if we paid £500 We where covered for the full amount Also you can extend five electrical item warrantees to three year Each year I know easy after the event Really crap start to a new year

  16. Some very good points there A Ecspecially about the built in wardrobes We also have a dressing room My wife thought I was going overboard building wardrobes to the three other rooms with the first fix But two are now full and there’s only two of us
  17. Ps If you are worried about the durability of the pb You could order one Abito board and rip it into strips More solid than timber
  18. I’ve a petrol hole borer bought off eBay £150 makes light work of dogging down for posts

  21. No more work to install Actually made it easier having a void behind the base units Wires and a waste pipe I needed to move
  22. I’ve installed a 750 worktop and it’s worked well I thought my wife was barking when she suggested it ( Insisted) But I have to admit it looks ok and does the job nicely The only drawback is the sash window is hard for her to open But at six foot four It’s nice to be of use for something ?
