  2. Agreed. Further, I can confirm that my own testing (and fault finding) matches @JSHarris findings in terms of how the system operates. Of course that operation could be deemed as not a 'fault' or 'problem' but at the very least is at odds with their own marketing materials and specification.

  3. Is that really a good use of the batteries in an EV? Not long back in one of the discussions on EV's I raised battery life as a concern. A well reasoned argument suggested with a typical range of 200 miles and batteries being good for 1000 charge / discharge cycles, a battery life of 200K miles was a reasonable expectation. But that is blown out of the water if your car is going to sit there charging and discharging while going nowhere. I would want to be paid handsomely for that to compensate for the lower battery life I would get as a result of that.

  5. My understanding is that the lambda quoted for CE marked PIR (eg that complies with Harmonised European Standard BS/EN 13165) is the average value predicted over 25 years. In addition the degradation mostly happens over the first 8 years and then slows. So for most of the 25 years it will be close to the quoted figure.

  6. His numerous explanations of the system and how it is not doing what the first units did has convinced me , and that@s not easy !! He has not convinced meto go PV +sunamp though .LOL ,that there is a problem with later units and needs to be addressed is obvious and he seems to have used sound experimentation to find this out as to how good the units are in reality in either old or new form could be open to a biased opinion of those that have spent the cash ,but the problem I believe is real If I want to heat from the sun ,then I will be staying with solar thermal for that ,as i have done for last 20 years

  8. Accepting 99% right instead can often do wonders for your stress levels and have no material difference to anyone other than you. I've been really quite poorly this past year and it is taking ages for me to recover my health. OK, a series of viral assaults caught from my new grandson has been a factor here, but I am sure that the overall impact of the long-term stress of doing the build has been just as much of a factor.

  10. And what if you put a shed on wheels? The Conditions don't cover that..... and so popping a shed on some form of wheels is a common way round that regulation. Tucked out of direct sight, and incapable of being hitched instantly to a thief's tow truck..... Just sayin' .....

  11. @Christine WalkerI think her lawyer is correct. I am not familiar with the detail of the Scottish system but I think it runs the same way as England & Wales SDLT. If her shared ownership property runs the same as E&W schemes then the Association that owns the other part of the property usually has the right to set the price and to have first shot at selling it (we are going through this with nephew at mo). This is how his sale works If the price set by HA is not acceptable then he would have to appeal, if they failed to sell it in the contracted 12 weeks then the right to use an open market Estate Agent can be taken up. The HA usually have waiting lists of people wanting to buy they dont usually go to open market and the price is the price not up for negotiation by buyer or seller. In nephew case he wanted to move from Hants to Wales for family reasons and so didnt want to 'staircase' (buy any bigger share even though he could have). HA were instructed to sell last October - we are now March and on the third buyer with hopes of an exchange this week. He is in danger of losing his purchase due to the incompetence of the HA in qualifying the buyers they sent! So back to your friend.....she has enough savings to buy outright but not for the fees and/or SDLT. She will still 'own' her share of the co-ownership property until it is sold. Presumably after 18 years she has some equity in it. Why not go to her bank explain the situation and ask for a personal loan to cover the shortfall....could be secured or unsecured but I would have thought her bank would help her out with this then she can repay when property sold and she recovers the tax. Or take a zero interest credit card and do it on that. Seems to me she is not short of money but has a temporary cash flow issue.

You need to temper your OCD ( I have had to do this), yes you know it’s there but as long as it’s solid, as in fixed properly, there is nothing wrong with it., to make yourself feel better you could fill it with D4 glue and let it foam in the gap, (spray a little water in the gap to make it foam more) then trim it off flush with the flooring.

  15. First off, I'm not an expert, by any stretch of the imagination. Secondly, @Barney12's problems are well documented here, as are those experienced by @Eileen, so there are at least three members here who've experienced some problems/issues with their Sunamps. I think that @readiescards may also have had a unit replaced by Sunamp. I think we may have around half a dozen or so members that have the newer model Sunamps, so it would seem that perhaps 50% of them, maybe more, have experienced some problems.
