I presume that Travis Perkins and Toolstation are part of the same company then?

I assume so, but I don't think you have to prove you have (or have not) got a TP account.  Just enter that code for the discount.

I once went to the local TP with an urgent need for drain pipe fittings, lots of them. They were reluctant to  give me a price , but eventually quoted about £15 each less 10%. I knew the price at TS was about £5.

They weren't best pleased that I knew and then admitted that they were being squeezed out of a lot of business by their own joint owner.

They must have made enough of these £10 additions from the local builders to justify the policy.

Benchmarx bottom of the range used to overlap with Wickes top of the range kitchens. I don't know the current situation.

You all get the 10% discount from Wickes I trust.

Yes is seems okay.  The weakness I would say is the bits screw in. From past experience years ago that tended to corrode to the point you could not unscrew the bit.  This is Something like my 5th or 6th soldering iron, the old Weller was definitely the longest lasting, but near to falling apart now and obsolete so unable to buy parts.

I had an old bakalite body Antex, a 15 or 17W iron and it was *so* much better then the more modern 25W one that replaced it.

I have had a couple of Irodo gas irons and they're great to keep in the toolbag.

Thank you, worth knowing about.

Got my tip today, works alright.

Though I do think at £2.60 for 1, it is expensive.  But shall see how well it lasts.

Soldered the pins to the GY-302 pretty easily, now see if I can detect light with it.

4 for 3 Discounts on Flooring from B&Q

First one I have seen for some time, and available on a selection of vinyl sheet, luxury tile and other styles.

Also applies to a selection of a laminate floor.

https://www.diy.com/landingpage/flooring#icamp=HP_Hero_Flooring

*Including a couple of Quickstep products.*

Here, for example, is Quickstep Aquanto Oak for (I make it) £15 per sq. metre. I did half a house with one of these.

SF also have £40 off the kit with the DTD156Z impact driver. Same drill and batteries as the above deal then in effect £70 for the impact driver which is what one would be elsewhere.

Anyone wanting Makita LXT batteries this is a bargain

https://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-dhp453ste-18v-5-0ah-li-ion-lxt-cordless-combi-drill/487kg

Pair of 5Ah batteries for £139 with a drill  and charger thrown in for free.

To give some idea of how good a deal this is, Screwfix is also selling a single 5 Ah battery for £100.

A pair of these batteries on Amazon is £150, so as you say, it's literally a free drill and charger on top of a better price than you'd generally be able to find for just the batteries.

If anyone's thinking about getting into the Makita 18 V ecosystem, this would be a great way to start.
