  1. As many have said the upstairs really doesn't work. For both bathrooms in a 300 m2 house to have no windows is to be honest a design disaster.
  2. Roughly £55 m2. the Falzonal distro came back instantly with just one supplier name. Just about to PM you :).
  3. Hi Ian, which aluminium system did you use? We're still intending to use colorcoat urban but frankly their technical backup has proved appalling. I've been waiting weeks for an answer from their technical team but after numerous chases I'm ready to throw in the towel.
  4. That sounds about right. The guy we are using is £170 a day per man (2 man team) and £120 for their labourer.
  5. It does look great. How does it fair in terms of resilience to dirt and cleaning though? My other half isn't happy if she hasn't wiped a surface with a damp cloth at least three times a day!
  6. Sorry to go "off piste" but what's that wall finish? Looks very sharp. P.S. Consider entering your manifolds into the Turner Prize. Its one up on the 'Unmade bed'
  7. Hmmm interesting and thought provoking! We had to apply separately for our solar panels on the main house as they were excluded (at the parks request) from our initial application. We were granted the permission (only last week!) and obviously before the house is built. BUT, the application stated (again at the parks request) "Instalation to an existing dwelling". From whats you've written I could likely fall foul of HMRC for the entire claim in the worse case. Time to write to the National Park and get them to clarify my position me thinks!!
  8. If the OP simply removes the items relating to the toilet and shower from the VAT claim then surely it becomes a valid claim? If you wanted to be really pedantic you could simply disconnect all the items from the mains and say they are "stored in the room" ready for when completion has happened.
  9. My DNO (Western Power) chucked a 10mm SWA in the ground, connected it up and said "fill ya ole in m8". They didn't even put the cable in the hockey stick at the meter box saying. "Not struggling to put that in there m8". Mind you it was pouring with rain on the day they did it. The lacky held a golf umbrella over the guy splicing into the cable.
  10. +1. We were also very very strongly advised against anything other than cavity and block/render* due to our exposed location. *brick is a no go on our national park.
  11. Filled it out myself and thrust it in front of my sparky to sign
  12. Our windows are sitting flush with the exterior of the frame. This is due to the weight of some our (large windows). The Kingspan closers do make for a simple install due to their flanged design but I guess it could still be done with a timber batten (say 50mm x 50mm) screwed to the outside of the frame and then the rockwool in polythene stapled to that. But, that provides no fire resistance?
  13. Watching this topic with interest as we have an almost identical detail (Timber frame, 50mm cavity, 100mm Blockwork, Render) I'd looked at the Thermabate and went slightly cold when I realised the cost.
  14. Are they really that cheap to hire? Crikey. No brainer then. I'll put my tape away :-).
  15. Spot on advice. When we did the barn conversion this is exactly what we got them to do. I can still see the boarders labourer little face, he thought it was Christmas
  16. Have you got your plasterboard delivery ready to pop up on that first floor? Your boarders will love you forever!
  17. I love these and its well worth buying the "real" branded ones. Especially with animals that I have failed to train to wipe their paws on entry!
  18. Thanks thats good to know.
  19. I've got this one written down in my "project book". The plan is to get them to drop a 18mm ply former into the slab to create a mat well. This detail is for the front door and back door. All the patio/sliding doors (4 of them!) will have to be turtle style mats as mat wells in these locations will look too industrial.
  20. Must be a fantastic feeling. "Closure".
  21. Just put yourself on eBay. I'd recommend a 99p start
  22. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Its keeping me awake at night!!
  23. No, No, No. He needs to come to Devon first! I'm closer! And.....my job comes with free 'Live In' accommodation. A nice cosy 1 bed flat above the garage. And.............An outside toilet with hot and cold running water. (There is one inside the flat too ) And..........................An outside "doggy" shower. Thermostatically controlled. Just saying.
  24. Same issue in Devon
