  1. Could do with improvement, visible flexible pipe etc possibly being higher so that cold air isn’t recirculating and maybe some weed control and chips for drainage
  2. I have the same lockbox in the link, no issues with security, sure there are people that can beat these things and get them open, but are they passing your house and as you say it’s hidden from view. I sleep well and don’t stress about it
  3. Every grand design I’ve seen has been a dodgy unsafe site, from mess everywhere, domestic steps on building sites, steels lifted in on rope etc, dodgy scaffolds, hardly and PPE….. Then they run out of money 3/4 through the build and the next visit it’s finished with so much bling/ unnecessary expenditure
  4. I’ve only come across gluelam for ceiling joists, architectural curved designs.. appreciate the info
  5. What’s CLT? You should use the full non abbreviated wording and then abbreviate
  6. Yep and as the rebar rusts it expands and cracks the concrete…..
  7. Good luck in your endeavours
  8. When it’s that sunny you won’t need the heating and when it’s not sunny you will need the heating…. what tariff are they on? how’s the insulation in the house?
  9. Following instructions generally advise that the fan should be protected by a 3 a fuse, so assuming it’s fed from a lighting circuit, it will need a fused switches spur to fuse down to 3 amp. 3 core fan isolators are also common. i hate when they are fitted above the bathroom door.. There is a mix of old colours and new colours so that needs addressing too.
  10. Yes, fully agree with that statement. My largest unit draw about 1.8kW and as mine are retrofitted, I’m using a smart plug to create time schedules/ monitor consumption.
  11. Not much difference in consumption for the the second day, 7am IR thermometer was reading 138deg C on the internal part visible through the front grill
  12. Dumb creda units. 2x2 brick wide units 1x1 single wide units Think each element is 850 watt controlled via a smart energy plug
  13. I like the storage heater as it’s still pushing the heat out now, after the power was switched off at 05:30 am this morning and the temperature at the front vent is 53deg C at 11 pm. Tomorrow will be interesting as last night was heated from cold, so interested to see energy consumption for a consecutive night
  14. The heat loss calculation tells you the heat required to heat the house. it tells you the heat required to heat each room. this lets you pick a radiator that will have an appropriate output for the design temperature for the heat pump the radiator you pick will then let you know the volume of water in the radiator, pipework etc to help you determine the volume of the buffer tank, along with the size of heat pump based on the heat loss calculation……….
  15. Just like the other threads then eh, not willing to listen to anyone offering sensible advise.. heat loss calculations will show you how to heat your house in its current state and offer factual information on how to improve it… I feel tired too
  16. Remember everyone has different temps they like to heat their homes too and different size of homes so no point in comparing what you use against my consumption. it’s the first time the heating has been on in months
  17. Ah ok was thinking about Dundee and Angus or Fife College a bit closer
  18. I was looking at this too, I’m in NE Fife do you mind sharing where you did it?
  19. My day rate is just shy off 4 times more expensive than the night tariff, so a no brainer for charging the EV, storage heaters etc.. dishwasher Hall Storage heater used 9.981kWh last night for the first time in months Hall temps looking ok.
  20. Preferably one with an earth at the origin?
  21. Watch out for old blades they have a use by date on the blade😁
  22. Sure can agree with that , but you can also design lots of things out, add insulation to reduce heat loss etc. i run a 3 phase 72kw unit at work to heat a big building…. So I know you can do it.
  23. Ah get it, can you post a link to a heat meter you were describing just interested
  24. What about one of these, let you see existing flow rates, play with pumps etc https://midsummerwholesale.co.uk/buy/renewable-heat-accessories/taconova-tacosetter-inline-100-DN-20
