  1. the other option (with a cost involved) is to put the funds into escrow with a solicitor, I believe.
  2. We are using Protect VC Foil Ultra. While it was supplied with the TF kit it's a brand that's common in the merchants and isn't the most expensive product out there?
  3. What size of inverter is associated with these battery packs tho?
  4. air tight, but what vapour permeability?
  5. you could always just try the spectro in B&Q. It is free after all. I've done some work on the systems in the past but don't know if the current solution displays an RGB or RAL result- but even if not you may be able to crossreference off the internal code on the swatch.
  6. Aren't most TF contracts on a phased payment plan? Ours certainly was...
  7. ...with 100 ohms in series. makes a difference...
  8. Passed the 200kWh generation mark yesterday.
  9. Thanks Jeremy, I was being stoopid there, of course the TMV will be wide open... D'oh.
  10. mount the basin a touch lower?
  11. a couple of Qs re cooling Aren't the Salus autobalancing actuators bidirectional? How do they respond to cold flow? What about the manifold's TMV, does it get manually opened or is there a bypass added?
  12. I know I've said this before but you can mix&match Hager grid modules onto their standard Sollysta faceplates.
  13. We went with a bog-standard anthracite coloured UPVC (which has a woodgrain texture outside, gloss white internally) and it's remarkable how much the profiles have changed in recent times- the glazing rubbers are just-about hidden. Perfectly happy with our choice.
  14. will the architect come and treat/paint the windows for you?
  15. Similarly was having issues with an old Byron one that had worked happily for years until someone locally got something new and wireless (jammed our weather station too...). Tried one of the chinesium Kinietic switches and it works a treat.
  16. what about using cold mains straight into a fan coil (with suitable flow/pressure control of course)?
  17. No, I mean for topping up the temperature. @joe90 has probably hit the mark referencing defrosts but that's got to be somewhat dependant on your locality.
  18. walls first or ceilings first? Thinking specifically of the FF rooms where the slopes are hanging off battens over PIR and the ceilings are straight onto the joists; the top batten on the slopes will be 3" down at a guess because of the thickness of the PIR.
  19. As I've never seen an ASHP with a COP of less than 1, what's the advantage of using the immersion anyway?
  20. bringing this one back up... Is there a best/preferred order to board in? We've walls over PIR and battens, Slopes over PIR and battens, and ceilings straight onto joists/ posijoists.
  21. Airbag? As in, one of the small blowup positioning thingys; Paintless Dent Repair guys use them and Lidl sell'em occasionally.
  22. If anyone's looking a bargain on an ASHP... I've happened upon an unused showroom model Lailey and Coates inverter monobloc. Unfortunately it's a 6kW unit and so a bit small for me to take advantage of. I'll not quote the price I was offered it at but suffice it that it was *well* under a grand inc shipping to NI. Complete but untested. Contact is Richard at greensquare.co.uk if anyone fancies taking a punt on it.
  23. Oddly, the NIE bod that put our supply on stated that they still require a bond put on at the CW stopcock regardless of the now-in-force regs and plastic pipework.
  24. brushless. So much smoother...
  25. we've a Delonghi B2C, a Perfecta. It's the more basic one with no milk jug but it does have a couple of useful additions over our previous Magnifica (which was used heavily for six or seven years maybe before deciding to have an appetite for heaters...). It's got an Eco mode which keeps the boiler warm without having enough waste heat to warm the cupwarmer. It'll dispense into a full height mug at full coffee dose it'll fill said mug to almost-espresso strength.
