  1. For vacuum to work it needs to be a true vacuum and that would mean very thick glass or small panes or atmospheric pressure would defect both panes until they touched. Gas filled is much easier as the gas can be at atmospheric pressure so no stress on the glass
  2. Got to ask …. What is the other door for? Assuming one in/out and one en-suite
  3. Ive got to go with @BotusBuild it looks like that was once on the wall. Some pics showing more of the roof would help
  4. No problem slotting a sister piece in but anything more is likely to cause more damage trying to do it from the inside. Seen too many felt ‘repairs’ done from inside and all that’s happened is the new felt collects and channels any drips or blown water into a worse place . if it is still leaking then you need to get outside and seal if properly
  5. Yes, vinegar being acidic is perfect for cleaning cementitious snot from frames and windows
  6. Nope, the extra generated heat will allow brothel reception areas to be used as heat banks
  7. Non existent as usual! During covid we were classed as key workers/suppliers to rail industry so no furlough, but as virtually all works stopped on railway projects they didn’t buy any machines, just starting to pick up again now. Luckily we have a roughly 50/50 split so the construction and arboricultural machines kept us going.
  8. Sadly this happens too often especially when choosing on price. A few of my customers have built their businesses on going around putting bodge jobs right and that often costing more than the highest quote in the first place
  9. Some flex and racking is to be expected until it is held square by bracing or the deck you put on it
  10. But any wind or solar must be backed up by fuel burning or nuke power. company we have dealings with have a massive order book for 5000kva diesel generators to be supplied as fast as they can put them together.
  11. Good morning and welcome, so much info available by searching previous threads and posts first but then feel free to ask
  12. As above or you would need a aluminium or plastic angle to cover the batten before wall panel goes on
  13. 3 phase if you have the option
  14. Only you can determine what your time or ability is worth. How much responsibility are you going to or are willing to take? Do you have experience and a track record of managing a house build/conversion? Very different from a big commercial site
  15. Bordered or bonded? No idea what cement border is but if he said bonded then that's a load of crap! It’s not falling off so bonding isn’t a problem, it’s just not flat or straight.
  16. Resurfacing is no problem and as it has already settled then unlikely there would be any more. You want someone who does pavement tarmac jobs with a small paver machine. Hand laid over a wide area looks awful. or pull the tarmac up and replace with paving blocks
  17. Originally they would not have been painted on the inside, they have probably lasted a long time already and will do for many years without doing anything to them. They tend to rust more around saddles and connectors because dirt allows moss and grass to grow trapping moisture against the surface
  18. Ahhh, so not really self levelling but self aligning or tolerant. I had a vision of them being on springs or something and self levelling would make drainage falls interesting lol
  19. Self levelling? Or adjustable? Dealt with (take up and relay after getting machines in) loads of pedestal floors but can’t see how a self levelling one would work
  20. Glassandstainless.com is my go-to place for bespoke toughened glass
  21. People can be very strange, woman being interviewed yesterday said any price rise would probably mean she would freeze or starve, but she also admitted to smoking 40 cigarettes a day which must cost more than her energy usage
  22. @Russell griffiths think the build up is sips between joists or rafters rather than on the top. We erected the Sips “Oyster House” at the ideal home ex many years ago and that was all done with sips infills in a glulam grid structure
  23. Cold tarmac is ok for patching a small hole or around a access or inspection cover but it does not set like hot lay stuff does. That said, most users of cold lay set themselves up to fail by not prepping the holes, get rid of any mud and loose stuff, good priming with bituminous paint or better still roofing compound to give the tarmac change to get hold of the hole.
  24. Good morning and welcome, if you have a plot then you are already onto a good start
  25. Bit of water in bottom, fill up with dry stuff to top, if two bags then ok, poke some holes into dry mix, pour water into holes, poke a bit more and let it set
