and larger, with ever increasing cavity sizes need leeway to get the building on the footing and square as digging is never an exact science.

here is the problem with day rate and DIY'rs. No offence but as your clueless on how long anything takes on the building so you are very easy to be taken advantage off. 99.9% of all subbies will take you to the cleaners. They wont be getting repeat work from you so wont care. Get the whole job professionally QS'd (its dirt cheap) and pay in arrears to the the QS for work done. Make this clear from the get go to whoever you pay in the form of writing which they sign. So when you inevitably have issues its all in black and white.

not necessarily, liquid metal batteries look very promising.

vehicle to grid needs both your energy supplier and car to be V2G compliant. It looks like a really good way forward to time shift electricity demand to when its cheaper. With 100kwh+ batteries in cars they could run a house for long time if needed.

there should be a hidden gutter between the two roofs under that bodge of ridge tiles. It's purpose is to provide a watertight barrier where you have 2 dissimilar tiles that dont bond. Not a huge job, get rid of those ridge tiles and fit the trays. days work tops. Assume the right hand house is a council house with the external cladding, maybe get onto them ?

change of direction normally needs a chamber. the size of the chamber is dictated by the depth. A good drainage design minimises chambers.

sure a digger can pile it into skips real easy. skips = ££££££ muck away for bricks, blocks and tile = cheap. you do the math. -

take out all the wood, skirts, doors, window frames, kitchen, archi etc and burn it. you will still have to pick the roof trusses from the rubble to burn. take out all the loft insulation. strip out all pipework, cylinders, tanks etc. when you knock it down you will have to pull out of the pile anything that isnt a brick, block or roof tile so easier to do it before hand. -
Keen to get started! If only I could find an architect...
