  1. last time i went down the science direct rabbit hole i ended up reading about 6 pane glazing units and the max no. teeth for a saw blade, hours of fun
  2. everyone thought they were rhetorical questions.
  3. i beams with smartply glued and fixed to the face with every joint glued? then a good foam (illbruck fm330) and seal everywhere (illbruck sp925) just in case?
  4. just add water to keep the dust down......
  5. so not as installed and a bodge
  6. get him to notch the face of the insulation so it runs continuously
  7. yup, unless you want to go back to using cut nails
  8. looks like wet rot but need more/better photos and detail as to where the stairs are to help you
  9. looks good, should have gone with hooks though, nice and easy to replace any. bend hook, slide slate out slide new slate in on a slate ripper to catch the top of the batten, bend hook back, job done. try that with double nailed slates.
  10. 'fraid not, angle grinder, 7mm drill and a long screw at the end cut to shape with some foam and/or stainless mesh to stop anything getting in at the cut.
  11. yup, it does look good, almost like new, however, the roof on the left looks 'more settled in it's surroundings'
  12. i would use a chop saw but would never advise someone else to do so 😉
  13. got a ninja 🥷 but for 4 was a bit small, still got it as wedon't get rid of anything! then got one rom lidl which is bigger and has a rotisserie option foes lovely chips and cooks a 1.2kg chicken in 40mins. well worth getting one, a lot cheaper to run.
  14. some of us don't broadcast our mistakes, but it's good people have the spheres {yellow?) to do so
  15. looks good cleaned, however, with the moss covering i think roofs blend into the landscape a bit more especially in the country, home for bugs and food for birds but obviously gutters need cleaning.
  16. https://www.armatherm.co.uk/ i fitted it as i wanted to minimise the risk of condensation in the kit and any cold bridge, if it works, great. if it doesn't i've tried. if no-one else fits it won't bother me. it's been said before, a few hundred is neither here nor there in the total cost
  17. for slate? just used a slate knife
  18. apart from the heat leaching in a cold bridge to foundations! armatherm or similar should be placed below steels and insulation around where concrete is going to be placed
  19. says the person self building a dungeon with house above. strewth.
  20. fit a roof window in close proximity, will let you onto roof to do repairs at the same time
