I see Sunamp are having a VIP open day, anyone here going? Let’s have some feedback!

I’m sure I read that the EPC contains the floor area of each property. Obviously not every house has had an EPC done, but where they have this is public data. https://www.epcregister.com/reportSearchAddressByPostcode.html

Static caravan = no probs. Humble shed = noooo.

I’d also vote for you building the garage first. As others have said it then gives you a decent place for the washing machine and all the other things you’ll want to store on site. -
Wow, looking good, it’s great to see your progress. Just placed the order for my TF. On site in 6 weeks. So much to do beforehand!
-
You got me thinking, I must order the slate for my roof. Mind you, the planner wants slate from a local quarry, probably at twice the price of your Spanish slate!
-
I also need in-roof trays, maybe around 18 but would need to decide on which panels I’m going with. Maybe a bulk buy from a UK supplier would not be a bad idea, trays, panels, inverters and fixings. One thing I'm unsure about is prices, with the end of the FiT is there going to be a rush to the finish line and prices go up.?

What are the boxes in the bottom photo? I had assumed all the electronic stuff went inside the house?

Looking at the installation videos, it’s clear that there are a series of ‘other’ bits you need to carry out a full installation. So the price of €39 is misleading, as this is for the tray only. A quick look at a French web site suggests the flashing kit Extras add up to around €50 per panel. Mind you, that’s still cheaper than any UK supplier I’ve looked at !
-
Wow they are a lot cheaper from France. I’d definitely be interested in a bulk buy deal.

This study examines the effect of air flow on a building integrated PV-panel. It is shown that in summer, the maximum temperature of a PV-panel of 3 m in height is experienced for an east facing surface and reaches 77°C early in the morning. The maximum temperature for a south facing panel is 51°C and that for a west facing surface is 58°C. The air velocity in the air-gap between the PV-panel and the building wall is an important factor. It is shown that for an air-gap width of 0.02 m, an air velocity of 0.5 m s–1 can lower the mean temperature of the panel from 77°C to 39°C, allowing for a significant increase in its efficiency. Finally the air-gap width is varied for a steady velocity of 0.2 m s–1, and it is shown that the temperature of the building wall varies from 23.7°C for a width of 0.01 m to 20°C for a width of 0.05 m. https://ac.els-cdn.com/S2210983814000522/1-s2.0-S2210983814000522-main.pdf?_tid=060e3c00-f496-4490-a44a-f3aae7f4ff70&acdnat=1535403109_8406ce8e92e25da307d1c86f8e115edf

Maybe wriggle tin would help dissipate heat and the castilations in the tin help air flow.
-
In another forum someone suggested placing wriggly tin sheets under the solar panels and mounting the solar panels direct to that.

I see the Romag kits are basically aluminium flashings
-
Count me in, please share your designs and thoughts. Ps. I like the Mould idea. Now where can I get a plastic tray watsit as a sample to see how they are designed.
-
Mine will be split into two groups of six over a west facing and south facing roof, thus I will have 2 rows of 3 on each roof.
-
I showed these to the roofer, his immediate reaction was, it would be cheaper to fit EDPM or fibreglass under the panels! What do you all think? Does he have a point?
-
Intrestingly the in-roof flashing kits are as expensive as the panels.

I often wonder if Mikee ever got his wood burning stove problem sorted? Or in his neighbours case crap burning stove!

Pipe laying taper tool. Recommended
Triassic replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Tools & Equipment
I’m trying to build my house using the minimum number of tools. I used an old wood saw to cut the pipe and a Stanley knife to chamfer the pipe (hold it at 90 degrees to the pipe and pull the knife towards you). -

Total energy consumption per m2 per annum
Triassic replied to NSS's topic in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Design Concepts
I see the government have implemented a speed obligation. The Government has confirmed that universal high speed broadband will be delivered by a regulatory Universal Service Obligation (USO), giving everyone in the UK access to speeds of at least 10 Mbps by 2020. This is the speed that Ofcom, the independent regulator, says is needed to meet the requirements of an average family. After careful consideration the government has decided that regulation is the best way of making sure everyone in the UK can get a decent broadband connection of at least 10 Mbps as soon as possible. -

We live in s rural area, but luckily we have a primary school and a residential school for disabled kids and part of the Governments commitment was to have Internet in all school, as a result our broadband shot up from around 2mbps to over 50, recently its down to around 22mbps. Not sure why it’s dropped recently? -

Out of interest, could you define “decent broadband”? So I have something to benchmark against. -
