  1. I’m looking at which ASHP to buy and wanted one with cooling capability. What am I looking for? Make, model etc.
  2. I’ve just found my EPC, it scored 37 an F. can I apply for any grants to improve it? mind you I demolished the house 16 months ago, but would anyone know!
  3. I’m sure the SAS took delivery of two of these recently, they’ve been flying over our house doing low flying exercises all week. You can hear them coming miles away.
  4. What’s the world coming to, they’ll be silencing the church bell next!
  5. I only use one assessor and she is someone I can trust, she works by the book and I know the outcome is correct and not “fake news”.
  6. I remember switching the computer on and logging onto the mainframe that ran Autocad. We’d then type in a whole ruck of commands and go to make coffee and toast, coming back half an hour later and sit waiting for it to finally come to life!
  7. So why not use a vented cylinder? What’s the problem?
  8. Over the last few weeks there’s been a number of threads about hot water and heating systems in highly insulated houses. I, along with others have followed and contributed to the conversation where we could. A few have said openly they are confused by the various options and the complexity of it all. So here’s a challenge for all these who’ve been through the DHW and UFH mill...... Please describe what a simple DHW and UFH system looks like, what components (the principle parts, ASHP, Thermal Store etc) you had in your system and why you chose these over other components/approaches? The bottom line for me is to understand what an optimum system looks like.
  9. I used one of those on line transport delivery apps, Anyvan or something similar, you describe what it is you want delivering and people quote delivery. I got a guy delivering a car to,pick my 3tonne machine as a back haul. Only problem was I had to load it for him, then drive home to off load it.

I’d say you need to strip back the affected area. Also check the pan connection is sound. I’ve heard of cases where it’s dripped into the cavity for years and caused extensive rot.
  11. No argument from me there. According to my wife the only things that are perfect are women! I can’t argue with that!
  12. You must have a better class of scrote, round here the hoody draw string is tightened and the scrotes became bolder and don’t give a dam who watches.
  13. I’ve just noticed that no one has posted anything under this heading. Don’t we have any European members?
  14. Passive surveillance - The discouragement to wrongdoing by the presence of passers-by or the ability of people to be seen out of surrounding windows. Also known as passive surveillance (or supervision). from what I’ve seen of wrongdoers, many crave an audience, it’s part of the buzz. So with the UK being the most survailed counties, why do we need more!?
  15. I’ve started my build and have had the building Inspector out a few times to sign off various stages. Is there a definitive list of what needs inspecting and when, as I’d rather not miss getting something inspected.
  16. @Moira Niedzwiecka just sent you the current price list. I agree the Sunamp website is more of a sales brochure rather than a technical website. Maybe Sunamp are missing a trick here. I wouldn’t buy anything without understanding the technicalities!
  17. Some planning department dont accept that deep bore soakaways meet Suds. Might be worth checking. for example Norfork CC said. With regard to Sustainable Drainage (SuDS), currently we would not see deep infiltration or borehole soakaways as infiltration systems to meet the requirement as SuDS. Whilst they can provide important groundwater recharge via infiltration at depth it does not mimic the natural drainage system as would shallow infiltration. We would only expect it to be used as a final option for the location of discharge of surface water on a par with a sewer.
  18. A very nice idea.
  19. I had the same thing with the radon Barrier, Local BM stocked it but not the tape, I asked why, was told that no one bought it so they stopped stocking it, they suggested Everyone else uses Gorilla tape. Not sure if gorilla tape would be any good, so bought the correct tape online. It was was the same with air tightness tape, never heard I’d it and don’t stock it.
  20. I don’t see it as your roll to provide passive surveillance, it’s the council and the Police who should do this where problems exist. I’d also talk to the planner directly and point out that the existing house does not have windows on that elevation. maybe an arbocultural report could find fault with the tree, nod nod, wink wink. You could then undertake to replace it with a new specimen tree.
  21. It would be good is a Jeremy Harris style Sunamp selector spreadsheet to play with.
  22. An interesting question.
  23. Good to see someone elses SAP figures, it allows my the sanity check my own figures, thankfully they are similar.
  24. That’s a shame, I like to see what people are paying for stuff as it helps when buying stuff for my build. I’m one for a bargain and want value for money so your price list post was very helpful.
