Yes @ProDave is right, I had a temp supply on a post in a box right next to where it was going in a detached garage I was building and swung it in on my own and got a sparky to connect to the house wiring.

Yes, 16.09 from octopus energy but we have no mains gas available, I keep saying I may change to economy7, just need to work out consumption/times.

Well I escaped ?

Laying pine floorboards - is this ok to do?
joe90 replied to AlanUK's topic in Wood & Laminate Flooring
I would secret nail it through the tongue at an angle, you can hire a special nailer to do this, no fixings on Show give a better result IMO https://www.hss.com/hire/p/floor-nailer-manual -
Far from it Younger than me He does not live there. anyway, sting of the dump has no tech, @pocster,s place runs on it, if ever there was an EMP, he would be stuffed, can’t even take a dump ?.

installing sewage treatment plant with discharge to stream
joe90 replied to Tom's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Not a Condor but mine (vortex) we levelled the concrete in the bottom of the hole, sat the plant on it then back filled with dry mix concrete as we filled the plant with water (high water table). -
Usually done with one of these. https://www.underfloorshop.co.uk/product/pipe-bend-support/?attribute_quantity=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzsz-BRCCARIsANotFgMarJVnVBWUJUhx06m2rTrmcDwhVBRXxKnuzl7bh9UPlF9MExRf2N4aAq7_EALw_wcB

I was interested to hear plans to ban the export of live animals from the uk from next year, the French import live lambs, slaughter them there and label them “Produce of France”.

apologies, (my memory is not good these days ?) it was Digby Jones that made that statement. Digby Marritt Jones, Baron Jones of Birmingham, Kt, known as Sir Digby Jones between 2005 and 2007, is a British businessman and politician, who has served as Director General of the CBI and Minister of State for Trade and Investment. He sat in the House of Lords as a non-aligned active crossbencher. quite qualified to make a statement about how business works IMO.
-
I also would still vote leave, as John Harvey Jones said in an interview way back before the vote took place “business will succeed despite what politicians do!”.

The only thing that was missing was a kettle, how can you call it a building site without a brew?.?? (Amateur) ?

You say these units “are coming of age”, modern ones are inverter driven which makes them less power hungry which make them more efficient. Normally a well designed and installed ASHP gets a COP of about 3 ( 3kW of heat fir 1kWof electricity) but as said above it all depends on the heat required which means the level of insulation, attention to air tightness and a good design.I doubt they have access to mains gas so you can only compare them to oil or bottled gas (excluding direct electricity which has a COP of 1). edit as corrected by @SteamyTea below

Oh he tried soooo hard to sell it too me, but I told him if I go just a foot underground on my plot I will drown ?, didn’t stop him trying tho!

I have just visited family (covid rules applied) and took the opportunity to visit @pocster and look at his underground lair, (I used to live nearby) wow , I discovered he has the same contempt for health and safety rules as I do!!!, place was a tip (but he knew where everything was!). He is the opposite of me with regard tech, I am a Luddite and hate tech, I prefer KISS (keep it simple stupid), Pocster on the other hand has tech running everything, from the front door lock which he can open with an ap , to flushing the loo (I bet). However as a software nerd I was impressed with the building work he has done (plumbing pipes aside ?) tiling is spot on as is his attention to detail. His site is basically a huge hole in the ground and I take my hat of to him for his perseverance and design. I don’t think he has any idea of a finish date (which he confessed his wife keeps asking him about). He was quite put out that I had not arrived to give him a hand and had the audacity to accuse me of wasting his day (mind, by midday he had not even started work yet ?), I have promised to go back and help him with his hoist (as he admits to not be much of a mechanical engineer) where I am not a software programmer like him. It was great to catch up with him and put a face to a name (he did say I looked nothing like my picture, but nor does he).I am not holding my breath on when he wants me back to help with the hoist (before I am in a wheelchair I hope!.) well done mate.

Dry Hip and Dry Ridge problem on new build
joe90 replied to Tomfromsurrey's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
My god that’s crap. -
I do get that, however it’s tax payers money and it should be “value for money” ?
-
that’s lucky that’s what I use, take photo, then when posting there is a “paper clip” thingy underneath with “drag files here to attach” and click on “choose files” and pick you photo and it will attach it to your post.looking forward to your “digs”.

My Tesco mobile contract is £7.50 and plenty fir me, the landline comes in at around £50 but my wife uses it fir some calls but I have not given the number to anyone I know so any incoming call is hers (well I make her answer it anyway ?).
-
Welcome, well that’s different? Don’t think we have one of those on here. Would love to know the nitty gritty details and pics if you can.
-
Yes, (broke after finishing build!) it was the “grand “ rather than the “£50”. Was referring too.
-
yes, I used nitrile rubber insulating and wound “self amalgamating tape “ around it. We used tape self amalgamating in BT to waterproof cable joints .

What would you be “gluing “ the slips too?, how long will it take to chop 15k bricks up? What about cutting the bricks in half (thick slips)motored between, = 15k less cuts!!!. Just idea,s!
