I like that kind of statistic ( even i can understand it!!,), all electric here, ASHP, MVHR, no PV (plus bottled gas fir hob) and my last bill was higher because the heating has just come on this month, and it works out at £3 per day.

I am all for the common market, free trade amongst members, but it’s turned into the “United States of Europe” which is more political than trading. It’s been said we want the benefits without being a paid up member but lack of tariffs benefit all, I don’t see why we should pay fir membership. I just see it as yet another level of “management “ that needs paying for.

but the highest court is/was the European court is/was it not ?

Did I remember correctly that some British fishermen were paid to de commission their boats? One of my beafs with the EU,s fishing policy is that it leads to fish already caught (dead) being thrown back. Seems mad to me. Don’t get me wrong we need to look after fish stocks but surely there is a better way?
-
I had to google that one ?

Dare I suggest that a deal at the last minute could be made generally but the small print sorted during next year.

this is my take on it, they don’t want to lose control of the UK and are throwing their toys out of their pram. If they want their public to pay tariffs on UK products that’s their choice. I do understand a “level playing field” and everyone talks about us lowering our employment standards but IMO our employment standards when we joined the EU were better than most other countries.
-
Also it’s always reported we will have to pay tariffs if there is no deal and no mention that we will also charge tariffs and as we import more than export so we have a net gain!

With regard fishing, Jeremy Vine had a Cornish fisherman on lunchtime and he said he agrees with a level playing field but the French have access to 80% of fish and can fish up to 6 miles of our coast, but we are entitled to 8% of fish but can only go within 12 miles of the French coast and that’s not a level playing field.

UFH takes a lot longer to heat up compared to radiators, mine takes many hours to heat up but I try to run mine 24/7 at a constant temp as this works best IMO. sounds like it needs balancing at the manifold (controlling water flow through different loops). Can you post a pic of the manifold so we know what you have ?. edit, and the info @PeterW says above

Welcome Dave to THE forum for self builders, sorry to hear your dilemma (I had cancer twice during my build ?) there is a wealth of knowledge on all types of building methods, pros and cons so bring it on. I did my build traditionally in brick and block but was able to insulate it very well to give us a cheap home to run.

Welcome, firstly I question if that is a party wall? They are usually between two houses and the middle of the wall is the boundary. To me that looks like your wall and they have built a garage up to it. Their roof definitely looks dodgy and I doubt very much whether permission was gained for your neighbour to use your wall (unless they have their own wall next to yours). Neighbour disputes are difficult but I think you have to insist they repair their roof as it is damaging your property.

I think your more fixed on “who is at fault“, well you will never know. These things happen and may or may not be the planting of the hedge, which by the way is not against the law and there are many many hedges next to walls that don’t have a problem. If you are serious about fixing this then you have to keep moisture out of that crack, perhaps a non setting mastic (the stuff used in expansion gaps etc.). -
Yes, just put the noggins a little away from the 450mm hole.

Welcome to THE forum, surgeon! , that’s a first here I think. We never mind questions, bring it on.

Might be a good idea to put one at each end of the hatch just to support the plasterboard edge.

Sometimes removing trees or shrubs does more damage than planting them ?♂️. -

Sorry but that’s hardly life threatening, if it bothers you rake out the loose Mortor and point it up. -
I am with @ProDave, give them notice, this will be a bargaining chip, from other threads I get the feeling these things take forever to get resolved so best start ASAP.

don’t care ? Can you share? Yes but I don’t remember a firm outcome.

I have always had my doubts about this stuff, nasty chemicals!

Thinking of dumping our landline if I can get a decent mobile signal to give me tinternet access over that (my son works for the gov and works from here sometimes using his laptop through his mobile phone but don’t know what network he uses). I need a mobile anyway so would like it to cover both bases (not to self, find out sons work network).
