  1. I do and it’s so complicated to use, I don’t!!,!. Another forum member also had one and he helped me to try but in the end I just use a room stat like he did. 🤷‍♂️
  2. So what is your heating? LPG? If so you will only need a generator to run that and some lighting etc I guess. If your heating is electric then £££££. You need to calculate what you want powered and the kW you need during power outages and get your fuse board wired so only “required during power outage” is connected to the genny via change over devise. I did consider it for my build to run lighting only but never got round to it (and frankly our supply is pretty good).

    Asbestos removal

I simply wore one piece coveralls, gloves, mask etc taped at ankles and wrists.
  4. I don’t mind hard work but what I could not stand was the people politics of working for a large company, when I was made redundant and started as a self employed builder it was so enlightening, yes you have to handle customers but I found that so much easier than managers and co workers 🤷‍♂️
  5. And a good quality one, I have had cheap ones fail before.
  6. Point the fan heater away from her 🤷‍♂️, or get an oil filled rad.
  7. Rubbish, under the wooden flooring needs ventilation but not into the house, as said above seal floor to wall and other gaps, no way to fill that cut out as it’s needed for the door to open.
  8. I have never had a track, I use a long straight edge (a piece of ply) two clamps and mount it xy mm from where I want the cut, works great.
  9. We used to holiday often in Weymouth when the kids were young and yes traffic in summer is really heavy, however you can get to Portland without going into Weymouth.
  10. OMG that’s bloody awful, however did it was not a roofer but a comedian (not that it’s funny). I just hope you have not paid him yet?
  11. I concur 👍
  12. No, the rafters are connected to the wall plate, the joists will give lateral support only (stop the roof spreading).
  13. As the OP is really looking for a flat surface and strengthening the existing a little I would use the above “screws every 600mm, no need to fit over the wall plate IMO.
  14. +1, I had my brick Layer use whole or half bricks only then got windows and doors made to fit the openings. Looks far superior 👍
  15. No it’s not, in fact you may have to unload the lorry yourself, read the small print and contact the firm to find exactly what they do and can do (if you pay).
  16. Asking fir a friend who wants to build a garage under permitted development, so the ridge will be less that 4m and the eaves under 2.5m, however because the ground is sloping the eaves at the rear will be up to 400mm more than the 2.5m, will this be an issue?
  17. Or use brickwork hangers!
  18. My brother had exactly the same problem which became worse when the gutter overflowed onto his patio in heavy rain!!,! They did replace it with deeper guttering but still cheeky.
  19. Everyone here knows I hate tech (unlike @pocster) so I would use a pir outside light, yes I know Pocster hates his neighbours but is it worth it ? it would be nice to illuminate anyone that might visit (presuming he has any friends 🤷‍♂️).
  20. After tea my other half said the lounge was very cold so lit the woodburner (it was 19.5’ 🤷‍♂️).
  21. We are in a Windy location near the Atlantic and it was the upper story but some don’t realise Mortor is “green” fir longer than some think.
  22. Our western wall of block on the house blew over two nights in a row in the winter, Mortor is green fir a day or so, my builder had to prop the new walls for a few days till it cured. Just saying!!!
  23. I am not normally into social media but put it out there you have a small blockwork project and see if you get any response, might suit a retired person that wants to earn some beer money, and you labour for him?
