  1. Yes but no excuse incompetency .
  2. That’s an art, lead welding, I have tried it, very difficult, 👍
  3. Yup, the door stops are missing, gawd knows why they stuck those three odd bits on 🤯 Your always whining 🤣 (enjoy).
  4. Can you post a pic of the other side?
  5. Is that not the other side?
  6. I enquired about a Reed bed and was told by a supplier they no longer did Reed beds after a customer died from a cut from the reeds and contracted a deadly disease.
  7. Yes but the pipes were long enough to allow me to put it next to the unit, I added a couple of vent pipes to help with air circulation to stop overheating.
  8. Well as I have said before I could not be more pleased than I am with my vortex, one of the lowest pollution figures regarding water output nasties, the only thing I changed was the pump unit, I removed it from the lid (which acted like a drum) and buried it next to the unit and now virtually silent. https://www.wte-ltd.co.uk/vortex-sewage-treatment-plant.html p.s. I later covered the lid in astroturf so hardly visible as well.
  9. I tend to run mine at about 1.5 bar (cold) but it does go up with temp, in fact if I up the pressure the ASHP tends to trip out with “over pressure”.
  10. Quite the opposite mate. (Jealousy emoji).
  11. Well I used to believe that till I changed my sound system (because the house was hit by lightening) and the replacement was a “Denon”, I was quite miffed it had less knobs to play with but when I checked it was a far superior system than the one they replaced.
  12. Very interesting and ties in with what a lot of people here have been saying about Zoots old stone cottage.
  13. Hi and welcome ( I love Switzerland ), do you have a current or upcoming project?
  14. His missus of course!!!,! (No the drive you plonker Rodney)
  15. @Adsibob any chance if a photo?
  16. Too right, far to many listed buildings and I fir one would not touch a Listed building with a barge pole, yes keep a few examples. Then again everyone here knows what I think of bloody planners 🤯
  17. The only thing that would annoy me is doors closing due to gravity or flying open when on a slope.
  18. Well it’s you that has to live there (not us!) so play with it till you are satisfied.
  19. Going back to your first post I like the side elevation (three roof dormers ) but don’t like your front elevation (blank gable wall). Took me a while to work out your lounge is double height (correct?). To get rid of my skeilings (slopey bit) I raised the wall plate slightly and reduced the roof angle so the ridge height was the same, might work for a few of your dormers.
  20. Ordinarily I don’t think you would notice, but tiles!!!!, yes, like @nod says batten it out, (it’s his day job so he should know).
  21. What price would you put on a quiet life? 🤷‍♂️
  22. During my long planning battle and appeal it was suggested I apply for something the council would allow but have the same footprint, downstairs as I wanted, start building and appeal the upstairs (which I won) but didn’t make me wait to get started, so, if you already have the founds in it’s only the upstairs/roof that would need altering during the lower build.
  23. Ha, that’s what I thought, OCD, noooo 🤷‍♂️
  24. You like it? Yes but not really dormers (IMO), unless the bedroom ceilings are high I bet the “dormers” are just roof embellishments. Originally we had skeilings but designed them out for simplicity of roof and insulation but from outside most would think we’d still had them.
  25. Yes I get your concern, our planners were trying to get us to have 1.5 with dormers but because of difficulty insulating them without very chunky cheeks etc we resisted (went to appeal and won 👍). Personally I think you have to be happy and not compromise (as much as possible) with what you are building. Mine is very “cottage” and that is what we wanted but not everyone’s cup of tea. Why not drive around looking at other houses and hopefully you will find something you could copy/modify that would “float your boat”.
