I also used frametherm for my room in the roof insulation. If it's cut to suit the gap in the rafters then it won't go anywhere. Like @ProDave I left a section not boarded for a few months waiting on plumbers to work their magic and it never moved a mm.

Practical starting point - v2

Well then a spend couple of quid and get the digger in for a play and get a feel for one before you buy. Its all hand to eye coordination and some people can do it effortlessly and others are like a robot with one movement at a time. -

Hire the digger out for a weekend and have some fun. Scrape the actual site of the house of any grass/ weeds etc so when it comes to marking out you have a nice flatish surface. Dig a few holes in the corners to get a feel of the controls and after the weekend then you will be able to see how your skills are. Just keep the revs no more than 50% so it moves slower until you get the hang of it. Is the garage in the way of the build as it would make the perfect site store/office?? -

@pocster. @SteamyTea If you want to post about inflation or debt, seagulls or Cornish pasties then start a new thread. Don't be hijacking this thread, it's Sunday and very warm and my drink is very cold and I have to keep checking on both off you to make sure what you post is suitable for viewing by the wider public. -
Market dictates the price through supply and demand. We have the supply bit covered. Demand???

They only care about profit. Not a single thought passed their minds with regard what materials they use and what impact they have on the environment. If it was your forever home then yes by all means go the extra mile and try your best to build something carbon neutral or low energy but if your going to sell it make your life so much easier and build something standard to building regs and that's all. Sell up collect the cash and move on. -

If you expect to sell when completed then why go down the route of choosing all non standard materials?? You could get a mortgage from someone but the rates will be high so might make it non feasible. So either play the game and use a block skin on a non standard build, probably the easiest method to become standard or walk away. -
My weekend in work or no bother. I used short round scaffold bars ( ones you use to tie scaffolding together) to roll my 4m concrete heads across my floor.
-
I moved all mine round using a barrow. You can get 13 blocks in each trip so doesn't take that long to move a few straps of blocks.

What to use to fill this gap?

Seriously guys. -
They came out and measured mine months before I was finished. Didn't pay anything until it was passed. They must just keep the information on file for when it's finally passed by building control.

Ky jelly is good for dipping bits into but you probably know that already.

Cement is usually only good for 3 months. Blocks are fine but the cement might need binned. If it's got lumps in it it might not bind well and won't mix right. Should be like pure powder. Remember it will really depend on how you stored it as bagged cement isn't airtight. Plus as your intending to use it to mix motar to hold a wall up I would try and mix a small batch and see if it goes off. If it does get it used up as quick as possible otherwise use it for concrete somewhere not important and buy fresh stuff to mix motar with.

Check the best before date on them.

Never bought one of these. Got a cracking deal on a makita impact driver twin set in 12v. Much easier to use all day than a big 18v unit. Plenty of power as well.
-
If you have paid for them then you want them to be there. If they are not there then either get a refund or additional bars sent out.
-
These are the shape. This one can only connect into a standard by putting the long spike at each end into the star on the standard and driving in the pin. All ledger bars are horizontal and connect to the standard the same method. Return trannies arent used that much. Most people just over lap planks to cover the gap when you do a right angle.

Won't do any harm whatsoever. You might get a bit of mould if puddles form but a quick brush and some bleach and it will be fine. If you grout the blocks there won't be lots of water get through.

Help! Wild difference in builders quotes
Declan52 replied to Newbuildnewbie's topic in Costing & Estimating
Go through each quote with a fine tooth comb and see what the actual differences are. They will be certain thing's missing that one builder might have took for granted. One might have included scaffolding hire or toilet hire or crane hire while others didn't. -
What wet room tanking system do I need?
Declan52 replied to Conor's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I used this version to do my shower a few months ago. Very easy to use. https://quantumgroupni.com/product/aquatank-kit/ -
I would go to the Dundalk one regularly. Only a few minutes from the motorway exit.

Guilty I think!!!!
