Good advise there They can be so dangerous in the wrong hands I’ve seen a TH tip onsite and also piece the top deck of a bus Preston City Centre Driver decided not to use a banks-man
-
I did chuckle when I read Bar I grew up win the 70s when it was fashionable for people to have a bar in the corner of there lounge Martini optics and party seven ?

Sorry typing on the go this morning Dressing Room Bath Room The reason I say Building Control and Vary Wildly We had an issue with the drains on our build Hardly any cover next to the house One said we should drop the Treatment plant outlet The other said it seems a bit extreme and the drains are on a walkway so unlikely to get damaged I think common sense can sometimes chip in Usually with the more experienced BC Dave makes a good point in that you could build the a fire compartment to allow access to The Bathroom to remain clear Cheap fix
-
If there are no loo or sink under the windows Or doors between you should be ok We have the same layout while there is no door between the DR Ana BR There is on the US BC told us we could still be cut off from that window But I’d check with your BC as they are not always consistent

hyload or 'normal' (eg visqueen)... whats the difference?
nod replied to sean1933's topic in Damp & DPCs
It’s not a fad It’s been used in building as long as I can remember But he is right one does the same as the other The main reason I used it is tgat it is much stronger Easier to attach the membranes as it doesn’t curl up and get damaged the same as standard dpc But it’s your money and choice -

Help needed re: door stop security certificates
nod replied to gwebstech's topic in Doors & Door Frames
It might be easier to replace the doors Everything seems to need to be certified now -
Our former neighbors have it down They had gravel originally They wanted Something else For basically the same reasons that you highlighted It looks very similar to there gravel All be it compacted They do treat the weeds once per year with roundup But seem happy enough It looked very simple to put down Its your choice Not your builders
-
If you just ask for high load Dpc The BM will know what you mean One of The handiest Things is with it being thicker it’s easier to keep in place

I used high loaf 600 mil So I could fold it out to rap the edge of the beam and sit my first course of block on
-
It should be fine Mix it dry and add water once the posts are in place

As I’ve stated before They are using a law brought in to stop builders stockpiling properties by leaving them without a kitchen and loo till they are sold While our solicitor stated it is totally wrong to use this against an individual self build They are acting within the law I can understand how you feel as it through us off track with the build while we where fighting it It would have been easier to take if the Country Counsul inspectors had been sympathetic and said look the rules have changed We are sorry but it is the same for everyone But arriving with that attitude that you haven’t but you could Made things worse
-
Exactly Though we did have a room on But we did owe back tax from about the stage you are at Get ready for Barrets can build a house from start to finish in eight weeks Its Something we all need to factor in My wife suggested that we don’t register the new address on the next one That seems to be the trigger We could of held off till service Conections But would have made deliveries a nightmare

Yes Boris isn’t known for being subtle But I thought by saying that it’s a good way to tell people they need to try and look after themselves
-
140 I do that each day ? Seriously Building does do that I’m 15stone and 6”4 Pop art way through our build I went down to 13 stone Work upto the plot bed Will sound familiar to some on here
-
Just wondered how everyone has fared in lockdown Who’s piled the pounds on Boris tells us at 5”9 hes 17.5 stone I thought he looked fairly trim when he came out of hospital
-
Your probably right But May leave you with a tricky conversation with your builder It May be that your builder Has suggested to BC that it may be prudent to do this and BC has agreed A word with BC would settle this It is difficult when you can’t be there in person But everyone should make it clear from the outset that any changes should be agreed the client before they happens
-
It does sound logical that BC would say this But also it will make it far easier for the builder with a bit more room For how few BC visits there will be you should have been there or had someone representing to you If you need to dig more out and extend You will need to get BC back
