You would need a bead taped onto the edge of the board before it’s fixed It’s normal to allow a three mill gap between the bead and casing

Your best way of making sure that block work is airtight is making sure they are pointed up correctly You can add a Parge coat for very little expense an afternoon for a couple of plasters on a 5 bed detached Or wet plaster the lot I’m not sure how or why you would want to coat the internal face It would mean leaving the outer skin down and coating round the cavity ties

On our first build we where lucky that the plot seller lived next door a d we where able to use there outside tap Almost until moving in On the plot we are buying there has been a feud between the sellers father and the farmer next door So we are not Expecting any favors If we have get a temporary Supply near the house I’m assuming run to a boundary box and Metre Will I be able to run a supply to the house at a later date Or do I need to run a pipe from the house to the mains as before and pay for a new connection at a later date

This is the difference with car showrooms hotels etc that I price for ALL the floors are level and flat before we start I have a floor laser for measuring fall and undulation I mark out the bad areas and they can either sort them out Or pay us We have floor planners and will often have to use a pallet of self-leveling on a floor that’s only a couple of hundred m2 Most floor problems are caused by to much adhesive under the tile and to little in other places

It may be a case of 20 years time tilers looking back and saying I can remember the older guys not using self leveling kits When I started all the wall tiles had lugs on them So there was no need for spacers Up and till 20 years ago we would mix a bucket of floor grout and simply tip it on the floor Push it around with a squeegee on a broom handle That way a tiler could grout a 100 mtr Or Yard ? section of floor in an afternoon Then tip wood shavings on and sweep for a clean polished floor More importantly it filled any voids under the tiles and gave you a rock solid floor Car showroom standard If someone in my employ wanted to use these kits I wouldn’t have a problem As long as they didn’t expect me to pay for the kits With most tilers laying 30 m2 per day on large floors It would soon add up
-
They are handy Some use them most don’t I’ve been a tiling 40 years and never have Thiugh I hadn’t used Ditra till 15 years ago I’ve four tilers work for me None use them and there work is perfect

Exactly I’ve never seen water dripping out of weeps There in the unlikely event they are needed

Myself and my wife have looked at similar in the Lake District While we where both impressed with the price and standard The ones we looked at came with a hefty annual 6k site fees

When BC visits for the final inspection Anything you don’t have He or She will ask you to forward via email and then about a week later they will email your certificate -
The reason we didn’t go for MVHR on the first build was a friend has it installed and doesn’t use it due to smells being staged in and a neighbor that Was continually Burning in the garden He told us all this is dragged in when the MVRH is running So he doesn’t use it Jerry who seems pretty clued up confirmed this at the time

As my wife says Why not just open a window You won’t get much fresher than that ?
-
You can render directly onto the insulation

-
He’s being picky Most just follow BC In any case the Warrantee companies hardly ever pay out
-
You have just described our build My wife constantly says there is a lack of air 283m2 very cheap to heat We never use the first floor rads UFH only needed when there is low outdoor temps Nick answered my question But paused another Will MVRH help in the summer months Or will it be switched off
-
With thoughts are our second build My thoughts have turned to things I could have done the first time round We didn’t include MVHR Mainly due to a friend putting my wife off adding it While I don’t think we would ever go as far as adding solar panels I would like to make a case for MVHR My wife keeps saying I went overboard with airtightness and insulation and has window and external doors open most of the time She suggested air con for the next build My question is will MVHR keep the house cool also

He’s put the cement board in like he intended pointing it Bit late now but I would have raised the facia to finish flush with the battens
