It has been discussed Possibly Peter John? Are the chainsaw sharpeners any good The yellow plastic type with a stone that fit on the end of a saw Seem to be spending more time sharpening these days
  4. I’ve used the 18 layer foil prior to plaster boarding Down side is you can’t get a phone signal in the house
  5. Try using I stud It’s load baring Stronger and 100% true
  6. I worked for a house builder that would ask us to nip in each plot for an hour at the end of the day and board the ceiling's ready for studs Grate for plasterers not so for electricians and anything that has to go up there I never board onto trusses Often up and down and running out Not much of a target for the boarders to hit as you point out a pain to stud What I do each week is counter Barton with 75 x 25 timber or or metal top hat
  7. We used Protec less than 2 k We only used the basic package Insure us against someone wandering on and injuring themselves Fire damage to the house Once you start adding liability for contractors or tool and plant insurance The price almost doubled
  8. I prefer system Combi in our last house As above some turns a hot tap on and you here a scream from the shower
  9. If your taping the joints Then joint filler one coat Then two coats of joint cement Normally left to dry for three days before sanding

  17. Just looking on eBay and someone is selling the same stud at £41 per bag Is anyone paying that An extra £4 a bag is not sustainable for me
  18. We’ve been getting it fine over the last twelve weeks But with a pallet only lasting a day or two I’m having to pay nearly a tenner a bag including transport Knauf
  19. Like most I assumed that shortages where due to the lockdown It now seems that there is an ongoing problem with the manufacturer of MF at the Carlisle plant We are starting bringing in finish from Poland Ten pallets due on Monday This is adding about £3 per bag When it rains it pours

  24. Yes you are correct in assuming that the render will form a weatherproof barrier The EWI will The first coat and mesh goes on together and left unscratched for a couple of hours Then topped with a ten mill coat This will be scratched and left pitted Leaving the first mesh coat in tacked to stop any ingress of water
