  1. She probably has a friend who knows someone that used to be a building inspector
  2. Yes We use one company for all the sash windows One for external doors and one for bifolds Pretty much for the reason that you have highlighted above
  3. As Mr P states plans would be helpful In my experience planning objections like this usually only slow things down and cost you money With little or no benefit to the objector
  4. We scored 3 Traditional build With 30 odd sash windows that can never be airtight The final Sap will work with what you have It’s all it bit of a joke
  5. We’ve done a few that have just wanted to change the colour we normally spray ten days before with an anti algae Let the rain to the rest
  6. Contact K Rend This is exactly what your guarantee is for The k Paint is good You have to do the full panel and also loose the silicone sparkle
  7. Thanks Cant keep up Still remember him as Recovering Academic ?
  8. We where told 3 to 5 years I would say it’s worth removing the filter and cleaning it each year
  9. Haven’t heard much from Ian in recent weeks Hope everything is ok Gary
  10. Exactly I thought I’d be in there with a pin ? The problem we where having was that we would come home and the tap would be flashing and running cold Quick reset 20 minute wait and all was fine For two or three days
  11. No I simply removed the internal filter and flushed it out It works perfect now I was surprised how much was in there We are in a soft water area
  12. We bought a cheap one from a car accessory shop More than ten years ago Works perfect Though if I had to replace I would get one of the digi ones
  13. My wife chose the German kitchen Spent £££££ on quarts work surfaces I chose the Quooker Money well spent The unit is absolutely fine free standing Quite stable when full The two years guarantee was disappointing Parts only We did have a problem after twelve months But I found the unit easy to dismantle and clear the limescale I combined unit is on my shopping list for our next build
  14. 95% of the showers I tile are moister board without any kind of waterproofing kit Which are absolutely fine If you want to go down the route of backer boards Gypsum now do a backer board that out performs Hardy It’s lighter easy to use and CHEAPER
  15. We parted company with our Architect just before breaking ground He was fine We will use him on the next one Same arrangement
  16. My advice would be to part company with the Architect Unless the home in question is of grand design preparations You don’t need the Architect to have any further involvement
  17. At the time of planning our build I was plastering and rendering two self builds in the lake district When I initially went to quote Both where water tight shells Being so close to starting our I asked both what they had spent Traditional was 62k TF over 100K From then on the costs should be identical We have built a 286m2 house which is as well insulated as we will need We rarely use the UFH TF is quicker and more convenient But that comes at a cost

    K Rend

    Hope your sorted

    K Rend

It will Dave Unlike the thin coat the LW1 is designed not to need a base coat 6 mill coat then mesh troweled in Not scratched Top coat after an hour If they had used the correct K rend K rend would have covered the cost The builder does t want to be in the same position in 12 months time I’m surprised the render supplier won’t cover the cost of sorting yours out I would scrape all the effected areas prime and thin coat the complete panel
  20. I called out to look at a K Rend job today on a nursing home that has some render issues The render is coming away from the EPS 1076 m2 of EPS and render will all have to come off It turns out that the contract 2 plus 1 gang has used standard k Rend rather than LW1 Rend I’m sat here doing a quote and there won’t be any change out of 60k Plus the cost of getting rid of a mountain of wast Be very careful who you employ
  21. We came in at 830m2 doing most things ourselves Our build was a traditional build We are getting ready to start a second build While I’ve nothing against timber Frame It does work out quite a bit more expensive
  22. Most of the merchants have multi finish in stock now
  23. You should be able to get multi finish I was talking to the rep yesterday He was saying that production is back to normal Depending on how experienced you are at plastering You can get all your floating done Then damp the walls down before you skim Years ago we would float a full house out and go and board the next one while the joiners would put the skirts and arcs on It was unheard of to fit skirtings to skimmed walls
  24. Our Cil guy was pretty clear Bringing on heavy machinery would constitute a start Unless it was for digging soil samples cutting trees down was ok While we wasn’t allowed to to demolish a building they where ok with us stripping the flares off the roof
  25. Yep simple to pick out UPVC are a nightmare to sort out
