  1. We had this drawer problem in the last house and have subsequently got the cutlery draw to the right of the hob and it is alot more practical
  2. ? People will be hoping it is time to rip it out and start again!!
  3. The Bathroom thread, miss it so much!!
  4. I seem to remember being told to use this gap filling cement when going from the orange U/G pipe to black solvent pipe so I bought some! I always use the solvent cleaner to strip the release coating on the pipe that is used in the manufacturing process so I know I get a good joint. Like I say it seems to have worked ok but just one more thing to worry about as a self-builder!
  5. I have two orange waste pipes sticking out of the slab for the en-suite bathrooms. I have to put a solvent 110mm boss connector https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-sp583g-short-boss-pipe-grey-110mm/17138?tc=HB7&ds_kid=92700048793290397&ds_rl=1249404&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIt-WllOfz5wIVmK3tCh2 onto each pipe and was supposed to use gap filling cement but as per the thread title used normal solvent on one pipe (not concentrating) and gap filling cement on another. So my question is will it matter as both pipes seem to have adhered but I cannot test the joint as the drains are not finished, have no access to outside at the moment as I could fill the pipe up with water. I still have access to inside the pipe so could perhaps do something to the inside if it is deemed that the wrong solvent has been used. This joint will be inside a tiled wall when finished so need to get this right, may be stop daydreaming when doing important jobs!!TIA
  6. Can anybody translate this language? ?
  7. I would not worry to much Ian about using resin on the base attachments, it is the wall ones you need to make sure are solid.
  8. No, dont do that, sorry did not realise this!!
  9. I have a distance of about 25m from house CU to garage CU so what size cable would I be better using pls @ProDave? Probably be a 4KW system. TIA
  10. I saw a driveway system with granite setts on a large building site being laid on top of a concrete pad and they core drilled out in a regular pattern through the concrete and then filled this with gravel and covered over with small pieces of Terram membranel before covering with sharp sand and laying the paving
  11. And me!!
  12. We have a Tata steel roof which has been on for two years and it is fine. Yes the panels are secured through the panel but they are an elongated hole which allows movement and seems to be ok on our roof
  13. Not wanting to take sides but if using one of these trays then they recommend you do the walls first to get the right position of the tile in relation to the linear drain, just saying!!
  14. What wattage ufh did you use and what make? TIA
  15. We have wet UFH (in the bathrooms) in a Passive house and wonder whether I need electric UFH in the two downstairs bathrooms? Reason being we will probably do the chunk of the wet UFH in the night if we go down the Willis heater route so there will be no form of drying the floor when we shower although I have no experience of how the slab will work when we eventually get in!! The showers are wet room type and measure 1.9m x 0.9m with a glass screen measuring 1.3m wide and 2.0m high but I fear we will have water getting outside the wet zone and do I need to be thinking of drying it by some other means? We obviously have MVHR so not so sure how effective this will be at drying out the rooms but do people think it is worth putting an electric mat in place? TIA
  16. Hi Terry, have you a drawing of your set up?
  17. I really like contemporary builds and this looks amazing. Hope all goes well.
  18. Following this with interest as we are about to get to the time when to decide how to provide DHW/UFH. Current thinking ASHP and cylinder but could do with a imlpe diagram on how people have done it please. (Back of fag packet will do) Other option to try Willis ( leave some tails to be able to add ASHP at a later date)and a Sunamp for DHW but need to get cost of Sunamp first. TIA
  19. If you do not mind me asking what is your elec bill on average?
  20. Star wars fan?
  21. Spoke to Reuter.de yesterday and they said they are stopping deliveries to the UK because of Brexit. They also said if I place my order now any out of stock items will be delivered once they come into the warehouse even it is after the 31st January.
  22. We are just compiling our order with Reuter.de but with this news not sure it is going to happen. We like some furniture in Spain so not a bad idea about hiring a van and doing a round trip if I can find the time!!
  23. Basically what everybody says above but the feeling of looking at your house and thinking "we did that "never fades and the sense of achievement is overwhelming and makes you forget all of the bad times (and there will be a few!!)
