Using MVHR for the first time
Pete replied to jamieled's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I did not explain myself properly, yes I have double extract from bathrooms. I have mainly double supply ducts and double extract which was different from what @Bitpipewas saying he had done -
Using MVHR for the first time
Pete replied to jamieled's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I have not doubled up extract and single to supply. I have the same amount of extracts to supply throughout the house so I assume it is easy to balance? I have not bought my vent axia but will be soon. It is a BPC designed system. -
Internorm: Order with solar glass, or apply external film later?
Pete replied to tanneja's topic in Windows & Glazing
We have solar glass on our South facing Internorm windows and it works really well. Only yesterday I was next to one of the windows whilst it was 28 degrees outside and there was hardly any noticeable difference in temp next to the glass. Not sure what to suggest here as your comments remind us of our nightmare with Internorm. Sadly they (Internorm)are not bothered about the problems their inadequacies create and so although the product is great, the service and most definitely the after service leave a lot to be desired. What people need to understand with Internorm is whenever there is a fault, be it a mis measure, damage etc it always takes approx 3 months to correct the mistake. There is no rushing an order through to get the job done, they are a massive world wide company and your damaged window will get replaced when it goes through the normal system like everything else. My windows are still not right and my original installation was late 2017. I have just received a new trim and seal for roof terrace door as apparently it is the wrong type of door for my location. There is no one to fit it so it is being left to me as my original window company no longer deal with Internorm and sort of went bust. -
3 miles at most, usually go when my berlingo car is full and then to BM or Screwy etc. I get on well with the guys at the centre and always take them something at xmas. I have been numerous times, especially when my timber frame was unwrapped and I had to dispose of large bundles of plastic. Saved me a lot of money I think

Any rubbish I take to the recycling/rubbish centre. Have recycled as much as possible, re used my hardcore, dismantled all wood from Internorm pallets (alot of wood) and reused in the build

Coming to the end of our build and we have not used one skip!!

+1 to above. We did exactly the same on our build

Always reminds me of the Jackass lads when one of them is fastened inside a portaloo which is FULL if you know what I mean. The loo is fastened down while a crane extends a bungee that is attached to the loo until it is released, when the entire contents of the loo are released, enough said.???

That must be the replacement product, happy sticking. Make sure you fold the tape along its middle so you can stick one part before you do the other.

I purchased all my tapes from Passivehousesystems but could not find the tape that I used. There is a black and green coloured tape that I used against the VCL but the colour of the tape that I used on the concrete floor/wall junction was a light green split 50/50 tape but it is not on their website now. May be others can recommend a tape for you, sorry.

I had to prime the concrete floor, PVA or SBR and then used the appropriate tape for timber to concrete

Understand S plan etc now and found Telford so know they only do cylinders
-
Thanks John, have you highlighted the relevant pages?

Hi @PeterW, thanks for your valued input. Why 9kw ASHP as you say the heating load will be low? (I am not doubting your ability but just trying to understand the reasoning behind your judgement). What is S plan, W plan etc? Do Telford just do cylinders? Any chance you could do a drawing for the pipe layout and wiring diagram if that is not to much to ask so I can get my head round d it all. Many thanks

100mm, part of Passive base

200mm and already have the manifold Wunda but no blending valve☹️

Hi @PeterW Size of house 312 Sq/m Insulation: Passive slab, walls with full fill 300mm insulation and warm roof with same thickness of insulation (very warm with just me working in there!!) Heat Loss: 179kJ/K( Hope this what you are after, got this from the SAP Calcs) 3 bathroom with three showers Yes to Plant Room Yes to UFH all one zone. No Rads and wired for towel rails but non fitted. MVHR will be fitted. Many thanks for your input, much appreciated

I have finally come to the conclusion that we are going to fit an ASHP and cylinder to our property. Over the years we have been drawn to the Sunamp, Sunamp and Willis heater courtesy of @TerryE but with the recent problems encountered and the uncertainty of how the system works if/when you have a problem does not appeal to us (Apologise to all those Sunamp owners out there). So having chosen ASHP it brings with it the problem of designing/installing the system and even though I have plumbed houses and fitted central heating systems the thought of this seems quite daunting.I have never fitted a cylinder before so this in itself is new territory so I am appealing to people who have done this themselves @joe90 , @ProDavefor any guidance you can pass on to me and may be some more help from @Nickfromwales and @PeterWif you can spare the time. I am struggling to get anybody locally who can just fit this low KW ASHP with cylinder without wanting to double the capacity, have it interact with the space station for telemetry and spend a whole week on fancy control systems. I have looked at the plug n play systems from the likes of LG and Samsung which would be very easy (ish ) to set up but would cost quite a bit more. I know I need an inverter in the ASHP and a blending valve(!) now so you can see I need quite a bit of advice to be able to understand the system and what I require. The house is Passive so will be minimum heating and I intend to keep the DHW temp low like Joe and Dave so I am trying to give you as much info to help with your advice hopefully. I know people have bought their cylinders from Telford but not sure what cylinder to buy? We will be doing solar PV at some point just not sure when. @joe90has mentioned having a buffer tank but he is not sure whether he actually needed it although he has his immersion in this tank I know you can have an immersion in the main cylinder and if I had a Willis heater as an immersion heater this could double up as a stand by if I ever have ASHP problems but how does this all connect together!! Hope you understand my dilemma and hope you can help me design and understand my DHW and UFH system from the start to the finish!!

Ufh manifold, blending valve with ASHP.
Pete replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Underfloor Heating
Ok thanks, what options do I have to avoid having to get another manifold please? -
Ufh manifold, blending valve with ASHP.
Pete replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Underfloor Heating
Yes it is a low temp install so are you saying it is pointless installing the existing manifold ? -
Ufh manifold, blending valve with ASHP.
Pete replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Underfloor Heating
I have a Wunda manifold that has been waiting to be installed for 18 months and I now find I need a blending valve as I do not think there is one there at the moment so will have to contact Wunda this week!! -
75mm Radial Pipe Max run length
Pete replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Hope not as I have 5 long runs in mine, I think doubling up the pipe run will help enormously -
It is very easy to do yourself but the problem is will the tiler accept your workmanship and secondly if there is a problem then you cab bet it would be your fault for not putting the mat down correctly. You just mix tile adhesive a bit runny, like a slurry and lay the mat out and press it down into the slurry. The tile adhesive is not doing anything other than adhering the mat to the slab/screed

Yes you are right, I did not have any rooflights

He is happy with the product but I must admit it did cross my mind
