  1. I clicked like but just thought I would clarify that I liked the story and not what happened to you!!
  2. I have an aerospace engineer son to do that for me
  3. We are hopefully over our window issues (fingers crossed) but only last week we had Internorm out to re-seal two windows where the glazed unit meets the frame. Internorm are blaming the window fitter's but when I asked him why do they not just have a seal/gasket between the frame and glass unit he said they have had problems long term and sealing with their product will last years. My reply was that this sealant had not lasted long since the windows have only been in 12 months to which he just raised his eyebrows. He also said it had been finished off incorrectly, the original installation team had squared of the sealant to the glass and he said they should have put a slight radius on it to allow the water to run off, my reply to this was who is training these guys. When you receive Internorm windows the small windows usually arrive pre-glazed (factory finish) and these windows have sealant that is square to the glass so the mind boggles. My reason for replying is that although you think you are buying the dogs b------- of windows it soon becomes clear that there are so many factors to take into account I am not sure you get what you pay for. When you place your order go over it with a fine tooth comb as our dealer tried to apportion blame to us when the wrong thickness of window arrived and it was only the installation manager sided with us that we managed to get a replacement. When the Internorm chap turned up last week and I asked him to look at a roof terrace door because it has a tendency to leak in really driving rain, he took one look at the door and told me it was the wrong type of door to have in that location. I was absolutely gobsmacked and said how the hell was I suppose to know that when placing the order and he just shrugged, told me he would order a rain deflector for the bottom as they have come across this issue before. Buyer beware I suppose. Happy window searching by the way!!
  4. I do like your drawings!!
  5. Not wishing to hijack this thread but my ever evolving DHW system plus UFH means I have not yet decided on which way to go with the source of heat. When we did our slab I put numerous 50mm ducts under the slab (Passive) for a means of getting pipes/cables in/out of the house but if I am now thinking of an ASHP then will I get pipes from the ASHP to the inside through this 50mm duct? I wish now I had put some of the pre-insulated pipe in just in case. (IF Mods think should be on a new thread please advise.)
  6. Watch this space It has to travel about 1.5m so a bit of silicone spray and we should be ok
  7. When I poured the slab (Passive) I put two 15mm pipes in for the H&C for the island unit. Due to a change in layout of the island unit I still need the pipes but they need to be longer so I either put in some 15mm straight connectors and continue the 15mm pipe or I can push through some 10mm inside the 15mm pipe that I already laid in the slab and have one continuous pipe right through to the base unit that will have the boiling water tap and tee for the DW so avoiding a connection under the island unit. I am doing a manifold system for the H &C system thus avoiding connections in inaccessible places so being anal what do I do. No great problem just be interested to see what people would do? TIA
  8. With our delay over the windows we have lost 12 months but are really seeing some improvement now. Kitchen is going in end of August and then finish the wood cladding and render garage and we are finished outside apart from the garden. I just keep spraying the Rosate and hope one day I can start on the garden!!
  9. About to p/board in my main service run and keep wondering whether I need to put in humidity switches in the bathrooms before doing so. I know most people say they do not bother with them but I notice you have a sensor adjacent to the MVHR unit and I wondered if this could be retro fitted in the future if I decide we need one and not bother with individual bathroom switches? TIA
  10. ?
  11. Really nice looking roof. Just to point out that the Tata roof does not require crimping, it is just malleted into place so one piece clips onto the next that has been nailed down
  12. Got an open end of 25mm MDPE pipe in the garage as it steps down from 32mm to 25mm so could perhaps play around with this to the testing
  13. Thanks for the replies. The pressure in the main is very good so my thoughts are leaning just accepting and moving on. Internal stop cock, drain and 22mm push fit connection
  14. Just had a phone call from the water company about our 32mm connection. They said they are quite willing to dig up the road again which will involve closing the road and remove the 25mm ferrule and replace with a 32mm connection that we paid for. OR according to their engineers we will hardly notice a difference and we can leave it as it is and they will write the invoice off which is £1970. I know, I know it is very tempting to accept the mistake but at the moment we have no way of knowing if the water pressure will be what we expected and it will be next year before we have the showers on and the pressure is not adequate. I do not want to be put into a position whereby we have to alter the DHW system just to overcome the poor flow. Just so you are aware we are approx 80m from the main to the stopcock and the mains pressure is very good with the distance to the furthest shower about another 15 metres. What is the general consensus? TIA

    LED strip light

    Thanks Peter

    LED strip light

Hi all, sorry if this has been covered before but I have tried searching for LED strip and there are pages of it so cannot find what I am looking for. Where have people bought their LED strip and associated drivers etc from please. The quotes I am getting vary vastly with some trying to sell me commercial grade stuff. I know it pays to buy quality but some of these prices are ridiculous! TIA
  17. Looks really smart. Is the stone cladding you have used from Norstone?
  18. Thanks. My thoughts exactly that they only had 25mm ferrules in the van.
  19. We always have a fear of moving away from the norm and trying something new, some call it trendy, fashionable. A friend of ours was forever decorating and having the latest trends in their house and had a glass sink put in when they came in. Many months later we went round and you could see all the sealant had gone black between the outlet and the glass and the only way to remove this was to strip it all out and redo it all. Anybody got the latest black metal taps?
  20. Is that a rail on one side and overhead/diverted on the other?
  21. This is the description on the invoice
  22. That's my new connection on the left, the other is my neighbour also building his own house. My nephew (who used to work for UU) asked a senior man at UU today about our connection photo and his immediate response was the connections are to close and that our connection should have been 32mm straight from the main and he offered to contact a hydraulics engineer to work out our pressure loss which may come in handy when we see what UU are going to do about it.
