  1. Got the first delivery of concrete B&B floor beams today and one has multiple hairline cracks (which the haulage driver very quickly pointed out before he made any attempt to offload) and another has one hairline crack up one side. How worried should I be about hairline cracks? Cheers Vijay
  2. If you removed the rings, would it not just be a male to female?
  3. what about using an extension https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p19642
  4. when getting quotes, I found steel suppliers cheaper
  5. I'm with Selbuildzone and just renewed for another year. Their initial quote was an extra £400 from last year but a quick call and they reduced it, so it was only an extra £40 from last years quote
  6. There's only so much you can do - some people will moan at just about everything and you have to just rise above it
  7. 6000 litre even cheaper https://www.tanks-direct.co.uk/water-tanks/underground-tanks/plastic-underground-water-tanks/6000-litre-underground-water-tank-bt2021.html
  8. Cheers. I'll try and keep them nicely spaced but aim for 1800 max where I can
  9. I know I've seen somewhere where it stated how far in from a corner and how far apart air vents should be for the underfloor ventilation, but for the life of me can't find it. I've read through Part C and although it mentions ventilation, it doesn't state the information I need. Can anyone help me with that? Cheers Vijay Scrap that, just found it, 2m spacing and 450mm from the ends of walls https://www.ribaproductselector.com/Docs/4/07504/external/COL31426.pdf I assume the 450mm is from end of the internal wall/corner?
  10. While getting scaffold quotes, I've met what seems like a fantastic scaffolding guy who's moving into the village where my plot is. I'm sure they do MK as it's only down the road if you're interested in his details?

    Brick Slips

I have a lot of brick slips to fit and contacted 2 water jet cutting places, worked out 3-4 times the price of brick slips through a builders merchant - so a no go.
  12. Not sure a tenner is too much to replace a brick, it can't be too far off 1/2 hours work??
  13. Good on you for digging your heels in where others might not have - will make your build even more special!
  14. Looks fantastic Jamie!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I think they were ones I looked at but Residence 9 came out a lot cheaper
  16. That's local to me if I can help at all
  17. shopping trolley ones can easily be removed with the right spanner, they are bolted on I agree ones with a flat plate fixing might be better though
  18. shopping trolley castors??
  19. Can't answer the fitment bit but a good upgrade is a multi chuck like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dremel-4486-Multi-Chuck-fits-200-300-3000-4000-7700-8200-8000-26154486032/190328292793?epid=2237164362&hash=item2c507345b9:g:6kMAAOSwh2xYBO2p
  20. I insulated my water pipe once it came up under the B&B floor
  21. I thought all beams would be pre-cambered??
  22. Cheers guys, glad to hear it's normal
  23. The last inspection I had was for the drainage. I emailed BC and asked at what stage do they next want to inspect, thinking it would be the floor beams or something pretty soon, but they said " Please call us when the roof is on and we will do a roof and progress inspection. If there are steels going in we will need to see them before they are covered." Is that normal as I thought they'd be more involved?
  24. Congratulations - now have a rest before the fun starts lol
  25. a mate of mine goes up and down the country doing something with large batteries and I've messaged him. Have you got a pic of the battery you're looking for?
