  1. Starting to think about external door thresholds as hopefully (weather permitting) I'll be starting my walls next week. Am I right in saying that flush external door thresholds can only be done on sliding or external opening doors? Or am I missing something on a way to have external doors opening inwards with a flush threshold? Cheers Vijay
  2. lol that's probably so true
  3. I'm just looking for a very cheap caravan, just the shell would do so I can throw in a double bed. It really is only to crash in so don't need any other real creature comforts
  4. lol I know. Not been up as much as I'd have liked cos of the rubbish weather, it was just slosh up there last week I'm looking for a caravan at the moment so once the better weather arrives, I'll be staying there a few nights a week to cut down on the driving and longer working days - I'll be a regular visitor then lol
  5. Nothing in the manual about it
  6. just stripped the reflective strip off a hi viz so will give that a try
  7. Is it honeycomb reflective on hi-vis?
  8. I tried red reflective like that tape and didn't work well. Will try white and see how I get on
  9. The one I have is a Bosch DLE40 unit and I believe is a proper laser unit. I've had an ultrasonic one and I think a tell tale sign of them was the meshed double sender/receiver units on the front. Any idea what colour is best to make targets? I thought red but it didn't work too well over a distance of 18 odd metres, but could have been the size of the target too which was about 150mm square
  10. Hi, I understand that laser measurers work by sending a beam of laser light to the object and measuring the time it takes to get back. What I've wondered after using mine is how accurate they are on the red laser dot or is the red laser dot just a rough guide to aim at and not very accurate? Vijay
  11. Looking forward to it
  12. I'll do DPC under each beam, a spot of mortar and grout well then Any tips on grouting, from what I've read soak the beams and blocks then brush in sharp sand and cement mix?
  13. Will do Nick. There's 100m or perimeter wall so just though some mortar might have been easier
  14. I don't use a DPC unless it's on one of the load bearing internal block walls. The ICF is waterproofed concrete. I may still put a patch of DPC under each beam as you suggest though but certainly not a continuous line
  15. Will be getting my concrete beams into place in the next week or so but I already know that because they are sitting on the ICF concrete, there is slight rocking as the concrete is obviously not totally flat. I wondered if it was an idea to lay them on some brick laying mortar to take up the unevenness in the concrete?
  16. do they all use the same nails?
  17. Anyone have any thoughts on the Hitachi nail gun that bissoejosh posted about as I'm contemplating buying a nail gun too
  18. Brilliant, will try that tomorrow on some big 5.8m hall beams where my digger will struggle to reach. Thinking one end on a barrow frame and the other lifted by the digger
  19. The driver was from an external haulage company, so only there to transport what he's asked. I think he just wanted to point it out rather than pass any blame
  20. Just to update, the supplier are swapping the hairline cracked ones, even the one with a single hairline crack.
  21. Would overclocking help? Did that to my PC which is quite old and the difference was night and day
  22. I've been there a few times and think it's helpful to give you some ideas.
  23. Surprised Amvic came in so cheap for you, they were one of the more expensive when I compared for my build
  24. That's my exact plan but was more concerned that they just say it's fine and it's not
