In very rare circumstances. To get an idea as to how much energy is being used, they are adequate in this circumstance, especially if the crankcase heater is resistive, or acting as a resistive load. It is because with AC, the current and the voltage are out of phase. When voltage is crossing the zero voltage point, current is infinite. To find out true power there is a lot if calculating to do during each cycle to find out, at any given point, what the actual power is. Root Mean Square is one method that is fairly easy as it, in effect, makes all the numbers positive. So less calculations to do. Another method is to take the area under each curve during a cycle, then multiple those areas. That is the integration method. Hard work if calculated manually. What usually happens with cheap clamp in meters is that a power factor gets assumed, often between 90 and 95%. So the meter over reads sometimes, and under reads others. But on average, it evens out.

(expletive deleted)ing hell, you're brave.

What they are really made from. Not really a mixture of chicken, lamb and goat liver and lites. I usually find the best kebab vans are next to a graveyard.

Welcome Yes, airtightness and insulation, there will not be much of either.

Take it and buy a joint.

While true, there is a difference between showing under 20W and 200W. It is too easy to say that because something is not 100% accurate it is not worth doing. There are also statistical methods that can reduce the uncertainty.

Should have stuck with 4-strokes. 2-strokes start off sounding broken.

Start with a couple of small windows.

It will be different now. Storm coming in (well down here anyway).

As I said, not perfect, but a good gauge. We should really use emissions or an environmental damage factor (large hydro is problematic). Also depends on, as you mention, imported and exported factors. It is an interesting area of environmental science, and there is no agreed international standard that is applied evenly.

Thanks, seems longer than 8 years ago I read that.

Depends how much air-conditioning is used. Basically GDP is a better gauge of energy usage. The more people earn, the more they use. There are quirks of cause. Once a reasonable standard of living is achieved, then people start to care for the environment. And at the other extreme, the very poor slum dwellers, they use little energy, but can do irreversible environmental damage in other areas.

You can use one of the ones I left there. Just need to clamp it around the L or N to the ASHP and then keep an eye on the display. Will be close enough to let you know what is being drawn most of the time. Leave it in a day, week or month and it will give you those numbers. It may need a new battery as it has been at yours for a few years now.

Yes I did. It is a problem when things have similar names at the same time. Bit like the Faces and the Small Faces. Way too many similarities.

How does your garden grow?

Just as well because the air lift from Thurrock won't start for a few more days. -
terdinations Sounds painful. I once found out why turds are tapered, they stop the bottom going bang.

Not that I know of Strange as you can get them on manifold systems. Would be a useful tool. In the olden days when cars had carburettors, they could be balanced by listen to the intake noise. Can you do something similar.

You could take it with you when you move. Nice to know that the people that whinge and whine about the current export payment are helping to pay for your export payment. I always thought that the original FiT scheme was a (expletive deleted)ing nonsense.

Even after nearly 25 years out of the composite plastic business not all my braincells have been killed off with the styrene, arsenic, xylene and acetone fumes.

Not at all, for the evening off, so shall visit St. Ives. Then maybe an Indian or Donkey Kebab supper. And I have been working on my energy and weather spreadsheet, which always makes me happy. Left it running though several million data points, so always a good time to go out.

DMC (dough moulded compound) or SMC (sheet moulded composite). I would avoid both. Think what your electricity meter box looks like, they are DMC.
