  1. However, never fitted this frame type. However this frame design looks different than the picture frame style that used to be done by adding a frame outside of the cabinets, so inbetween above and below a box. Looks nice, alot of work Good luck. M
  2. Used Howdens for over 20 years without a major problem. Damaged bits always replaced. Sometimes a few bits a couple of days late. There not perfect but neither am I. Quite happy with the team on the island.
  3. Maybe a basic question but not a daft question!
  4. Never use PTFE to seal the trap to the waste! The only worse ones I have been asked to fix are plumbers mate used to fit traps to shower trays!!! I have had to cut down the thread several times but always file the easy brass level and silicone. It's never about being perfect (just as well as I'm not), but being able to overcome the challenges properly. M
  5. Alot of messing about and a lot of parts.....
  6. It's the October sale coming up...
  7. I always give the port valve in this situation a resounding tap just in case it frees it up. I have often had success on circulation pumps the same way after not being used all summer..
  8. In the long term I like the idea of generating some of my own power for our ASHP. Something I cannot do with a gas boiler... I know the set up cost is a lot but with the PV being used for the EV and the house as well I'm happy to go there.
  9. I have a Coolenergy CE -iVT9 installed. This is the first few months. We removed the bottled gas boiler and installed the ASHP on the radiator system. I do not know what the results will be but so far so good. It runs quietly and the controls are not too difficult for us to use.
  10. Yes, but with the usual models the water is also not very deep.
  11. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/britain-obesity-toilet-ideal-standard-17231254 Trust the Daily Star to make a comment. But does this mean that moldy actually has a different problem?
  12. +1 to all four above replies!
  13. Thought it depended also on the diameter of the pipe...
  14. Sound travel considerations: What's on the en-suite floor? Tiles? What's the height of the gap under the door? Is the loo around a corner or facing the door? Will the room have any sound absorption in it? Is the room to be fully tiled? Maybe be a good pocket door, but the gap and acoustics can work against you. Good luck M
  15. and starting ?s LOL.

  17. Don't know your situation so... You may need a water softener. You can check with your local water supplier what hardness your water supply is. If you need a water softener you may need to consider where it will go and how the plumbing would work including the non softened water to any outside tap. Good luck M
  18. No limescale protection can cause problems with non symphonic flushing systems.
  19. Entrance lobby WC? Pipes have to come down anyway.... M
  20. Yes, with an internal stack terminating through the roof cold air can enter the pipe from both ends. Sometimes the pipe can act as a wind tunnel causing the wall of the pipe, in the house, to get very cold.
  21. a freezing stack would be an extremely rare event in most of the UK However cold bridging due to the cold air in the soil stack rising in the building could be the other problem considered. Also the termination through the roof can be a leaky problem. And again the smaller the diameter of the pipe the more likely to freeze so perhaps the 32 and 40mm pipes are the real concern.
  22. The only other possibility is a slow supply of water (like a dripping tap or overflowing loo) down the pipe in freezing conditions, cold enough to freeze the water before it reaches the pipe where it enters warmer ground. For this reason external condensate pipes have to be insulated.
  23. Checked up. Manufacturers recommendation regarding installation: ASHP to be a maximum of 10 meters from tank for the ASHP to be as effective as rated.
  24. Did I say it's quieter than my freezer?
