  1. What material are you trying to cut into? If it's plaster, then better embed an LED profile channel
  2. IMHO the only reason that you would want a concrete work top is that you can't afford any solid surface material, eg. corian granite, etc.
  3. @Richard TWelcome to BH and congratulation on your new project. I'm just up the road in Wimborne if you would like a chat over coffee?
  4. @SteamyTeaAgree
  5. Not really, Google Assistant wakes me up with with news and weather and Siri (Apple) gives me my appointments without a word being said by me.
  6. Nice project, but IMHO Siri, Google Home and Alexa all do that and you don't have to look in a mirror.
  7. @Mike_scotland Remember it not just about what the cost, it's about having a design that you can build within your budget. Make it quite clear what your budget is from the outset. If an architect is unable, or willing, to design to a budget - move on.
  8. Do you mean https://www.abcanchors.co.uk ? I have spoken to them and they seems to know what they are talking about and the prices look OK. I have a price list if you and others are interested?
  9. IMHO an architect won't be able to design you anything (that you like) for £200K that you can build for £200K. If you really want to use an architect, ask them how many houses they have built with their own hands and money.
  10. 50+ nails per end?
  11. I'm working on a new build and the Building Inspected told me to nail every hole on the hanger that I still have access to. Crazy
  12. Do not sue him - he is your neighbour. It will come back and bite you He copied the drawing for his application from a public website. He doesn't think that he has done anything wrong since he has not altered the drawing. In fact he could argue that he is just making reference to your previous application and hence there is no breach of copyright at all.
  13. If you want hot water when you get in, to be able to save water (time limited) and have different temperatures for the tribe, then a digital (smart) shower is what you need. YMMV
  14. I love Scholmore - https://www.scolmore.com/products/mode/
  15. Not always IMHO. BH is VERY supportive and if you have a challenge/problem, people will go out of there way to help and solve it.
  16. Welcome to BH. You now have access to lots of "been there and done it' people.
  17. Low energy is a negative expression, Good Energy is better, but is misunderstood by many, IMHO
  18. A number of sectors including self-building
  19. Please note that I'm ONLY referring to hand basin warm water instant water heating.
  20. I have no commercial involvement in the instant water heater sector, just a self-builder who likes to save on cost (capital investment and running) with a high leave of comfort. I'm doing the experiment anyway for friends, clients and myself.
  21. Leave it with me and I will do some experiments and will provide that data for instant hot water heaters.
  22. At a quick glance, the front elevation looks like to two designs in one. Symmetry for the sake of it is not always good in house design IMHO.
  23. With regards to instant water heaters for basins, they are the most efficient way in terms of energy, water and time. If you can put up with a boiling hot water tap in the kitchen then even better. Instant_Hot_Water.MOV
  24. It's a very interesting question in an almost passive house and one that has MVHR. Would you like one room/zone to be warmer than another?
