P.S. I’d fill the gaps with some low expansion foam and cut it flush. But some might consider that a bodge

I can’t see why you need aqua panel mesh AND tanking strip. The tanking strip is a reinforced mesh with the rubber coating on it. Pretty much impossible to tear. Plus if you have too much material build up in the corners you’ll just make the final tiling more tricky as your tiles will be kicking out. The flatter the wall the simpler the job!

I’ve seriously considered finding a way of leaving my container on site but burying (at least partially) would be the only real option. In my ground it wouldn’t float (excellent drainage) but how many years before it rusted out??

a friend of mine has one too. He swears by it, I believe the latest gen has just been released. VERY comprehensive long term review here (8 parts): http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/reviews/husqvarna-automower-review-part-1-the-robots-are-coming.html

I just couldn’t find a stair light design that I liked so in the end went for plaster moulded units from these guys: https://tornado.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=111&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxoC88ri-2wIV7Z3tCh36JQi4EAQYBSABEgJ2nfD_BwE Installation needs to be before skimming ideally. I actually retro fitted which is not a job for the feint hearted ! Still not decorated but I’ll try and remember to take a photo of them installed.

Bank Holiday fun: the cherry on the cake!

Certainly the most talked about is the cat flap. It’s become somewhat infamous in the village. Mostly because I don’t have a cat But a close second is my Quooker boiler water tap. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to a kettle! -
Thats Earth Save Products. I don’t know if they still are but certainly at the time of my build that’s where MBC were sourcing their pex pipe.

This is exactly what I’ve done. I’ve used the Megaman dimmable bulbs throughout and they’re excellent.

Yep, good he is too. In fact I must message him as I need to start thinking about the 120+ linear meters of retaining walls in the garden landscaping plan

No, but you will need to mask out the ceiling once you’ve done that first, fairly easy to do with a good quality low tack tape round the edge first and then some poly mask such as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0024NKD80?

Passive Cat Flap

A rather crap attempt of videoing the locking mechanism: -

Passive Cat Flap

From what I've read this can be an issue, as it is with all readers. Apparently vets sometimes put them too deep or they shift after insertion. -
Passive Cat Flap
Barney12 replied to Barney12's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
One of the clever features it that it has a door contact so that if the door it’s mounted in is open it won’t operate (and smack into the wall etc). Ill try and remember to take a video of the locking mechanism. It’s Austrian engineering at its best -
Passive Cat Flap
Barney12 replied to Barney12's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
The unit itself is huge but the actual opening (look at the outside picture, dark grey) isn’t that big. They do make a large version though but you’d need to put it in a wall, too big for most standard doors -

1. I don’t have one. 2. No. RFID chip enabled so it read the cats identiication chip. -
Bit short of time this morning (I have 1 tonne of tiles to collect and shift ) but I know the subject of passive flaps have caused mulch debate! So I finally lost the argument and a cat flap was a requirement. So I parted with a not insignificant sum of money and bought the medium door from Petwalk. I have to say it’s a seriously well engineered peice of kit. I’ve got to finish the wiring and need to find some of that braided cable sheath to tidy the cable. I’ll try and add some more detail later but in the mean time I’ll let pictures and a little video do the talking. This is was definitely a measure twice, three, four, five times and cut once operation!

We had a gym in the last place (full commercial equipment). The flooring was rubber, actually the same stuff they use in horse stables. There is NO way it would tear and split; 4 stallion hoof proof! The only problem is the 8x4 sheets are seriously heavy!

4kg tubs are cheapest: https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/manufacturers/everbuild/everbuild_adhesive/wood_flooring_adhesive/stixall_multi_purpose_wall_and_floor_adhesive_white_4kg_stixwfwe4_P29656.html they have tubes too if you want to do a test. S&T Direct have proved a good supplier for me.

Design SAP and sunamp
Barney12 replied to vivienz's topic in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Design Concepts
Perhaps @AndyT can comment on how they've helped customers with as built and built SAP ratings. With their new units there will be an increasing number who have them as their only and primary storage medium.- 18 replies

P.S. Use the Google Chrome browser and set it to automatically translate the Megabad site from German to English. Works perfectly. -

+1 for Megabad. Its thanks to this forum that I knew of their existence. I've ordered all my Villeroy and Boch sanitary ware and all my HansGrohe mixers, showers, taps etc from them. Saved an absolute fortune compared to UK prices. As an example: The Subway 2.0 wall hung toilet was nearly £500 from the local V&B showroom in Devon. Online UK prices are aprox £350.00. The EXACT same item from Megabad was just over £200!! https://www.megabad.com/hersteller-villeroy-boch-subway-2-wc-a-182924.htm I also ordered a few items in their own brand range Kronebach. https://www.megabad.com/kronenbach-k-117322.htm The quality of the items was first class. Packing and Delivery is expensive (mine was close to £450 from memory) but if you're ordering for 3 rooms you'll save a fortune! Just do the tour of the shiny showrooms, choose what you want and buy from Megabad. I believe others have used Skybad with equally good experiences.
