Agree with everything above. just watch out, the builders will probably say you don’t need to do that, 100mm will be fine. Probably cause they can’t be arsed digging out any more. make sure the insulation is sealed together and staggered joins, all joins taped well. Ask the builders to explain the thought process if they do only want to put in 100mm, then look at Steamytea’s other posts and see comments backed up with scientific formulae/mathematics.

You could do a combination of that. I’ve used Rise Kit’s in the past, that provide a gas tight seal. There are probably some cheaper alternatives too, I haven’t looked for a while

You could put a 100mm duct for electric cables to pass through the garage then seal the duct, the duct being sealed earlier to the vapour barrier.

If I was starting from scratch, I would put them in hallways, habitable rooms, utility rooms, plant rooms, rooms where gas/wood burning devices are located.

Hide an air tag on the bike too.

Is that the electrical rating or the heat output? 3 phase may be handy if you can utilise EV and PV at a later date.

it’s feasible, but there is also cabling between the indoor/outdoor unit too. mot will need pressure tested and capped off, best to make sure a route from a to b is available with accessible risers/ underfloor ducts etc

You may struggle to get air con-2 copper pipes /fully insulated through 1 penetration. but 2 of these with 1 air con pipe in each and split the cables would work. can they not come out the wall?

Letter box cut- cut down the pipe as far as you can go, then cut a rectangular letterbox in the ‘waste’ pipe side of the pipe, the rectangular opening now lets you get the grinder in further to the pipe, if required cut another letterbox out.

I think you need to speak to your DNO there could be lots of reasons why only 2 phases are in places but it’s all guess work, they will be the only one to let you know what you can and can’t have.

Yes, you can. my original fit and install and new garage install don’t take me to the limit anyway.

Personally I would keep it as it allows you to flush the pipework contents with chlorinated water on a regular basis. removing the tap doesn’t allow for this. If this was at my place of work and it couldn’t be isolated it would be added to a flushing regime to ensure water was drawn off on a weekly basis and recorded but that’s cause I have a duty of care at work, and need to comply with L8 guidance not so at home. Insulate the pipework and keep a handy tap!

That’s the stuff, yes back in the day, white pin crimps/ferrules were the smallest but I think you used to get french/germany colours. in my opinion anything that was stripped and had a sleeving, like the braided wire best practice was a hellerman sleeve to ensure a tidy install.

Are you living in the house during the refurbishment? I don’t think my other half would be keen for me to rip up the first floor flooring to install UFH! Ideal time to add some MHVR ducts to the ground floor ceiling at the same time!
