  1. You get double deck din rails that 1 rail could house 1 L&N.
  2. I’m sure the SMSTS, would have said that that only competent persons, suitably trained should be carrying out appropriate tasks… gas fitting being a good example…
  3. I would face a similar situation when my gas boiler packs in, currently piped in 22 mm to manifolds and 15mm to ground floor rads and 10mm microbore on first floor to rads. found 2 suitable locations for ASHP, preferred location is in drive approx 3m lower than house so may need secondary pump interested to watch this thread!
  4. The aerial will be wired in satellite cable anyway as aerial cable is rubbish. so take everything back to a central position and if you need to add the aerial run the cable during construction and it’s ready should you need it.

  6. Changing the surface tension of heating system fluid essentially makes it “wetter”. EndoTherm breaks down the Hydrogen bonds within the fluid resulting in a 60% “wetter” fluid when compared with standard water. A wetter fluid can access and improve contact with the micro-cracks and unavoidable imperfections within a radiator, boiler tube or heat exchanger. Increased thermal contact improves the efficiency of heat transfer into a building.
  7. I don’t know if the picture has warped or see fits a standard full sheet of plasterboard but screws should be approx 150mm on centre around the perimeter and I think 200mm on the inside

  9. Will post a link tomorrow when I get the info from work as I can’t remember the name. my mates the m&e clerical works manager at the local council, and a few of the local universities have done trials/case studies..
  10. For heating systems you get additives that make the water wetter to reduce friction and improve efficiency
  11. Ours came from tradstocks in Stirling
  12. Yes, long ones!!
  13. I hope I can live long enough to recoup the investment of my kitchen…... oh wait that’s not what life is all about
  14. And who puts the plug in the bath?
  15. Can you not drill the wall where the WC will go and take the soil pipe out and then tie into the stack above ground?
  16. from Scottish gov website Where and what to buy There is no list of approved suppliers or fitters. You can buy both types of alarms online or in store from a number of retailers, and any qualified electrician can fit the mains-wired type. You need to check that each alarm complies with the following standards: smoke alarms BS EN14604:2005 heat alarms BS 5446-2:2003 carbon monoxide detector British Kitemark EN 50291-1 More information on the standard, including the types of alarms, is in the Tolerable Standard Guidance Chapters 16 and 17. Please note that the Nest Protect System will not meet the standard. This is because they do not meet the requirements for a heat alarm under the relevant British Standard. British Standard (BS 5839-6:2019) states that only heat alarms should be installed in kitchens.
  17. Only the gas network operator can work on the supply side of the meter. then it’s over to the gas safe engineer to do the customer side of the meter.
  18. Worcester Bosch highflow550 storage combi for 2 showers and mira sport 10.8kW electric shower for the cheaper room?
  19. My own opinion would be to brander the ceiling, with 2x1 timber as a minimum fix these 90 deg to the joists and then plasterboard.
  20. Report him to trading standards….
  21. Ask him for the manufacturers installation instructions so you can check… that will shut him up. get him to remove it and kick him off site he’s talking absolute rubbish..
  22. Wouldn’t it be better to rely on a vapour barrier for point b? for point a, yes but you need to do this in multiple layers, getting wider every time to feather the join. I prefer wet plaster instead.
  23. I haven’t seen anything that bad in plasterboard in 30 years. tell the guy that did it to never come back he’s not even good enough to be a cowboy
