  1. Nobody wants pms for sake of looking at your brickwork. Post them on the thread!

    Driveway finished

@ProDave @JSHarris it's a disease isn't it. I'm by no means a perfectionist or a boffin but I can't understand these patio layouts or anything like that for the life of me. Everything has to be logical.
  3. Put a loft ladder in today and a few boards down. Wasn't too bad, done for dinner though
  4. can't you cut a join with coupler as @PeterStarck says
  5. Did you do the offset studs then @jack
  6. Will be fine same as a lining
  7. Yeh what about 4" sole and header with 3" studs art staggered 300mm centres. Would this give a superior sound resistance? Can't put nogs in centre I suppose with this way
  8. @nod so 150mm total though exc plasterboard.
  9. I've got the 154 impact. Has been back for few repairs under warranty. Not sure if that means reliability is questionable?
  10. Prefer the feeling of solid walls in my current place. Realistically though I would use partitions in new build myself just so much easier and cheaper
  11. Once the superstructure is up a lot of the work is self certifiable, elecs and gas anyway. Doesn't make it right but they are a bit uninterested nowadays. I have noticed how hard they try to sell their services to you now (even LA). Must be on commission/bonus?
  12. I thought you meant you were going to face and edge over the planer as you would do for joinery timber. Stick to underneath for this
  13. My district charges for asbestos. The one 100 yards away doesn't. As it just so happened my elderly nan in the free district needed to get rid of "her" asbestos so i decided to help. Spent 15 quid on polythene to wrap was still a nightmare. Where can you take the stuff if your in the trade and don't want all the permit palarva?
  14. Why do bpc quote on two different types of ducting? What's so good about red one?
  15. They do usually ask about trees for insurance but think ask within 7m. Last place I has bordered onto a woodland some big trees there relatively close. Just 1.5m down with clay boards. More trouble was conifers on another elevation over 2m down there
  16. Don't forget a passive rated seperate poor door for the social scum
  17. Is it necessary to put cladding timber over the top of the planer? If it were me and the stock was relatively flat I'd machine it all underneath the thicknesser to required thickness ie 30 odd mm then just square the edge over the top then back to underneath thicknesser. Or have I got wrong end of stick?
  18. Slightly hijacking here but what is the pros/cons of having electric meter installed near garage then taking a feed from garage to house. I know Dave and Jeremy have similar arrangements and I have oppertunity to do this on next house. I would want power to garage anyway so need a cable regardless. I won some pretty thick cable off a job the other year. Offcuts on a warehouse. One advantage I can think is no need for consumer unit to be in a position 3m from meter in house.
  19. Also a video of you putting the code in
  20. Don't get the hump because your not a mod yet! Enjoy break
  21. @joe90 no cavity closers then ? Just plasterboard up against insulation?
  22. My conveyancer seemed to think this was not that straightforward. Apparently because you are splitting/selling to yourself, even if to your own ltd company then it throws up issues. I can't remember the ins and outs without looking into it but would be interested to hear how you get on OP and whether mine was just being defeatist. Having said that it wasn't impossible, just easier to build the new one first, then split title when you are ready to sell old one. If that is the case then probably to best to raise a mortgage on existing whole property, build new then settle mortgage when selling old. Be the cheapest finance surely?
  23. Seen something which churches often use once. Was a dead simple composting soakaway. Diagrams were online somewhere. Not sure what a BCO would say
  24. Big developers near me using one of these systems on a nearby job. Suspect they like to choose a system and stick with it. As has been said different insulation used. I used 6" PIR on last job under floor and don't think I hit that u vale, more like .15 from memory?
