Why can't u mix 2 lots at once
-
They estimate 90 pcm whereas I gov octopus 55 and just recently had 600 back in credit how do I get the kwh figures?
-
It's unlimited referrals with octopus. Jeremy I might use your link and switch. I'm pretty sure the price difference in energy will not swallow the referral up in a hurry. I plan to move soon anyway

Is 2 blokes at slightly less than a week quicker than traditional slating?! What's the cost for the system

@ProDave stop trying to Nick my commission!

Should I fit solar panels
Oz07 replied to Russell griffiths's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
You think that your going to get 22m2 of panels fitted cheaper than the equivalent amount of roofing. With all the fiddly flashing?! -
Looks great. So far along before the scaffold comes down.when did you start?
-
50 quid a lining what's a whitewood one now 15? You could veneer your own I've done it before. However longevity would worry me with veneer

I think the tide is turning @recoveringacademic University degrees losing a lot of credibility in my eyes. Young tradesman out there earning a grand a week with no debt and some students saddled with debt working in a supermarket as jobs market is saturated with degrees. Obviously the two extreme sides of coin but not heard many trades moaning lately it's rich pickings at present.

Got a similar height at one side of my eaves. 1200mm. Works well for a desk then also have bath along this wall as you propose. Seems to work fine but where you position your beds will be important and think about wardrobes

Timber Frame "to Passive or not to Passive" that is the question
Oz07 replied to Red Kite's topic in Timber Frame
Fwiw I had a similar situation with planners and they let me use a non material amendment to explain walls were growing but internal volume remaining the same -
I'd still let floor designer specify ledger board and fixing schedule. Just tell them how you want it and let them do the math
-
Thanks too Jeremy. Still scrambled however. Do sunamp do a product to melt the ice on my windscreen or does it stop working when windscreen is 52% de iced
-
Might be easier to spec joists with 2" longer top chord and use that detail. Possibly cheaper too
-
Bolt ledger plate onto wall. Nail Joist hangers onto plate
-
I understand so little of this debate. It's almost a different language. Pcm 32 vs 58. My brain is scrambled

That's passable tbf! For me it's either that or redwood and painted. Anything with a thin veneer such as ply is asking for trouble in such a high traffic location

New build: Solid walls vs cavity walls
Oz07 replied to Sjk's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Looks good what kind of money per m2? Does this replace need for parge coating?- 30 replies

glues/nails are what squeak. Having said that if you're motoring along they help to keep things in check. I usually pop a nail in each end on first run and pull a string line between nails. Get first row to line up with the line, glue, nail bang away you go

Framin' ridiculous innit?
Oz07 replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Might be best to go 400 centres in your case. At least if you make a mistake setting out studs your not wasting too much of a board. Ie using just over 800 no instead of just over 600mm. -
Not if it's going cheap. But has that person made the same mistake?

Quick question if the boffins on here wouldn't mind. Is there any reason why I can't use kingspan tr27 under a floor in a renovation? Got one room to renew slab in and want to insulate. It's for flat roofs but what's the difference once it's under concrete? Not suitable for underground? https://www.kingspan.com/gb/en-gb/products/insulation/insulation-boards/therma/thermaroof-tr27-lpc-fm

Does anyone remember the house that John built or was it rebuilt. Years ago on discovery
-
Preventing a developer muscling in only to build a house on said plot! As said above take a breath and see what your options are on the financial side
