Welcome Kenny, From the other side (briefly installed gas boilers) if a customer handed me a contract to be signed i think i would have walked off the job, trust is a two way thing! We always emailed a brief job and a description inc a price which worked 98% of the time, the other 2% i could write a book on! Obviuosly this is small change to what people are speaking about on this thread. We have done most jobs ourselves on the build but when we are out of our depth we get in trades, the biggest being 10k for pouring the main slab with a mid sized local contractor. This was done on a handshake, no contract, no deposit and it worked (for us anyway).

Much appreciated been easy up to now but will get interesting shortly! Will try trainers before spending any more money!

We originally planned a tata roof but we are now doing a zinc roof on a diy basis.

Any recommendation for shoes/Boots for working on 45 degree roof.

Overkill but a bit of imagination it could work very well! Key klamp tube+ fittings (or equivalent) and scaffold boards. I also plan to make shelves in garage with same material.

Also very interested in this. We have already got some fakro quad glazed units off ebay to use up. We are planning on the velux cabrio as they do this in triple glazed as standard while fakro only do it in 2g. But i have being swaying between the other 7 roof windows between velux and fakro both 3g and would like unvented. Will also have a indepth look at keylite aswell, are they on par with with velux/fakro?

there is sliding doors in almost every room so its the whole foot print which would need be raised which i think is easier to dig out the concrete. not a problem with ceiling heights .

We have got a little problem with floor levels, looking for solutions. I know there is similar threads already started but i do not wan to jump on anybody's toes! We have a raft foundation with our UFH in it. We have up to 37mm to build up from the slab to finished floor level for sliding doors. We are planning 10mm tiles and are allowing 5mm for adhesive so we need to build up another 22mm+- a few mm. Our slab is pretty spot on for levels. Option 1. Dig out the concrete by 20mm and sit the sliding doors into this. Option 2. 20mm+- screed level compund (big area) Option 3. buy a deeper tile (limit choice in 30mm thick tiles could be a problem) Any other options welcome

We are going down the m6 in a couple of weeks to a zinc roof course in bolton, but we are up and down m6 regular. Funnily enough our builder left their trestles on our site with the understanding next job they needed them they would pick them up from us. We had them a few weeks we didn't realise how handy they where and looking for before next ICF build.
-
We haven't had many trades but everybody pretty good are separating their tools at the end of the day. @recoveringacademic are that trestles looking for a new home?

pro's & cons of different ICF systems

@Triassic I am can't comment on strength of the cross ties but i thought it would be easier to get a good pour with less bulk in the center core for the cement to flow around. -
anybody whisper a guide price for the 22mm carbadek stuff.

That sounds just like what we are looking for next, is it the caberdek stuff?

no we cut the icf and placed the rim beam before the pour, the middle photo is before pour. We also slid in cuttings of DPM between the the timber and the concrete before the pour. We have 220mm eps continuous on the outside of the concrete hopefully that will prevent condensation. Sitting the pozi joist on top chord saves on joist hangers.... every little helps

We cast in a rim board with 12mm threaded bar at 400 centers then planning to hang the pozi joist off the top chord. We cut the icf so the concrete is providing a solid base for the rim board.
