  1. Mixing bricks and running out of course is not ideal in your pic
  2. You could look at Hanson Jetfloor. If you tell them what u value you want they will make it to that spec
  3. Even if you have a stone cill/sill I would suggest having a stub sill/cill
  4. Just a left field thought, have you tried turning the bricks round? Sometimes there is only one face that is matching
  5. Or two/three courses solid engineering bricks
  6. Most will let you open a cash account whereby you have access to better prices but you don't have credit and you need to pay for the goods before delivery/collection.
  7. Y is a 45 degree T is a 92.5 degree
  8. A Y branch looks like a Y...
  9. If you are painting it with water based final coat then use a water based primer. I wouldn't bother with a special MDF primer, I've used Leyland trade acrylic and its been great, but go thinly and use two coats if needed and a light sand before your topcoat
  10. Generally white doors are just primed rather than fully finished, but have a look at Howdens Dordogne
  11. I've got a Dunsley Yorkshire wood burner with boiler, but on my next project I will definitely look at log gasification boilers as the government subsidy means they pay for themselves in 6/7 years. Worth looking into
  12. That tile trim you have selected would do the job, but you've got to think what you are doing at the top of the window etc too. Personally I would be tiling reveals and sill
  13. PD applies to the original house. You would need planning, unless you were putting the porch on the front of the original house (e.g if the front extension made an L shape)
  14. You don't "comb" the back of the tile usually, just smooth across the back of the tile with the flat side of the trowel to fill all the indentations and ensure full adhesive contact
  15. Lol, maybe you wanted to paint it in gloss!
  16. Fit internal studwork after screeding
  17. I think it might be useful to see what the house looks like currently (layout and photos)
  18. Where is your garden/views? Are those double doors coming out of a boiler room?
  19. Take the door off and paint the bottom, (do you rrally need to?) rehang and then put masking tape on the hinges
  20. I've got the Qtech QP019. I bought it second hand and found it hugely frustrating in that it keeps getting blocked after about an hours use and seems to use far too much paint. I gave up and used a roller in the end!
  21. Laitance needs to be removed shortly after pouring if you are tiling. If you wait weeks (like I accodentally did) it's a real pain to get off.
  22. The design is far too complicated to be brought in on a £1000/sqm budget. The architect has not understood your financial constraints at the start. With tweaks you might get a similar looking house at a lower cost, but would mean going back to planning etc.
  23. The problem you would have is that planning permission might not be "signed off" until the whole of the project is finished which might cause problems. It's worth checking with the planning department.
  24. How did the out of date plaster work with the cream of tartar?
