Vaillant high(er) temperature ASHP?
PeterW replied to Nick1c's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
It's the pressures and they are significantly higher than normal which needs a lot more kit. -
So... @Moira Niedzwiecka and me met up at U.K. Construction Week today at the NEC. Fair bit to look at in the UKCW show, lot of the ICF companies there and fair bit to see and walk round in 4 halls. Grand Designs Live was in a single hall and we probably walked round the whole lot in 45 mins. It’s split into 4 sections, and other than the guys making garden rooms out of sections of an Airbus A320, the rest was pretty crap and didn’t seem that busy. If you haven’t got free tickets I would save your money. Wonder if they will even have it next year as it seems to be losing its appeal.

Where is the meter ..?? If it’s accessible, turn every tap off watch it carefully - most are now designed to count at a litre at a time and will soon show flow. Next stop, a 5 litre bucket under a tap and check it does exactly 5 litres into a bucket. Process of elimination will show if it’s a leak or faulty meter

Well in that case buy the cheapest ones you can find ..! ?
-
I’d be looking to upgrade them to the self balancing ones. They are are an extra £5 and basically will sort the flow and temperature in one go. Well worth the extra.

22mm hot is still in a lot of the text books - makes no sense as that was when gravity was king.

Rodding point access cover, metal or plastic?

Tend to use the ovals tbh as they look neater. -

Issue with the CO2 units are that the refrigerant pressures are much higher and the engineers need to re-equip to service them. It is such a niche market that the uptake is very low. -
So is TorBoard just routed out T&G P5..?? If you were to ignore the issue of structural integrity (!!) then you could rout your own ... D4 the the P5 to the beams, use a 10mm pipe rather than a 16mm, and then get busy with the router ..? Go perpendicular to the joists and it shouldn’t be too bad ...

Just let him get on with it. As @Oz07 says, concrete will set under water anyway - just make a brew and watch him get wet while he’s pouring it from inside the house ....
-
Get it poured and just get the founds covered with a sheet of plastic resting on a couple of piles of blocks in the middle to make a tent over the lot. Shouldn’t be more than £20 for the sheet - can always use the DPM for the ground floor. Time to start posting photos of the build then !

400m overhead will be 10 poles on 11kv plus a transformer. Budget for £2k per pole, £500/50m cabling and £10k for the transformer ... I’d be moving the house closer to the services.

ASHP with small buffer for UFH?
PeterW replied to oranjeboom's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
25 litre is tiny - not much more than a low loss header. You can get 60-80 litre ones for about £150 -
Is it your lane...? And where are the Sewage Provider taking accountability for it, as that is normally from your property boundary..? If it is being adopted then you have to use what they specify.

Yep all pretty much standard profiles. Modern Trade in Hinckley do a decent range of uPVC

Is this north of the border ..?? English planning can be a real issue with this and you may need an agricultural tie - that can significantly reduce the value of a house and also make borrowing difficult. You may also have to prove viability - anything less than 10 hectares from memory isn’t financially viable in planning terms as a farm so you would be struggling to justify.
-
I take it then there is no planning permission ..?? That may be the first of your challenges.

Rehau and Profile22 are fairly common. You can get 3G for not a lot of money. Where in the UK..?

Isolators: easy to reach ? Where have you put yours?
PeterW replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Power Circuits
I think that’s the point though. We mounted it in the larder unit which had a 65mm service void behind, and then the 18mm carcass. That meant the back box was nice and deep to ensure that there was plenty of wiring space. In a standard 25mm service void it wouldn’t be as practical. -

..?? Grid box we used was 75mm deep and a 150x150 frame ..? -
Moulds I've seen made from Melamine or Formica topped material are pretty good - release agent used in them was WD40 ! They put in a 10mm or so layer with just sand and cement from the looks of it, and then used a roller docker to settle it into the bottom of the trays and remove air, then topped them up with a mix with some 10mm gravel in. @Onoff you can buy these....
-
The new ones are made from Silicone rubber and are flexible to allow them to remove the mould from fairly complex castings. Out of interest, what colour have you got as I’m trying to come up with a “blend” to match some sandstone and I’m looking at using Snowcem with yellow sand but it possibly needs some mortar colour in it.

@AnonymousBosch I’ll take a photo but it’s made up of these https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Manufacturers/Schneider_Ultimate/Ulimate_Grid_White/index.html The Scolmore ones are the same - from memory it’s : Oven Oven Fridge Freezer Microwave Dishwasher Fan (boosts the MVHR) Sparky hated me as it was in the back of a larder unit so he had 12 cables to fight with .... all in a confined space ..!! Looks good now it’s done though ..!
