  1. @Frod cortina the full length one on left of opening will become a trimming joist and needs to be doubled up or changed for larger sectional size, the short one across the opening will become a trimmer and have the same treatment as trimming. joist hanger required, the other option would be a tusk tenon to preserve the look and age of property.
  2. @Tin Soldier, unless you are intending to put any fascia up in pvc, don't bother. it will just be another thing to maintain, i'm not putting up a fascia. agree with the cold bridge detail, needs sorted.
  3. @Nickfromwales SSW and WSW no shading, btw this is your fault for suggesting SA+PV instead of ASHP ? @mike2016 don't have an EV car but may do so in the future so will put in the necessary wiring. i'm just trying to find out more info and options and hadn't thought of battery storage, more complications......
  4. hi all, starting to consider pv panels, wasn't going to bother but now starting to think about it. i had thought that monocrystalline was the best due to % efficiency but am finding that amorphous is better in low light. these are also cheaper and the returns don't seem much different when compared to the purchase costs. i'm not bothered about getting them fitted to get the FiT and would try to use as much as possible of the generation. i did search for monocrystalline but only got two results, therefore could those with more knowledge please advise? i would like to go for 8KW if i'm allowed as looking at sunamp and future proofing with car charging point.
  5. don't see the problem, should be able to clean the graffiti off with a suitable solvent.

  9. well they did get cheaper, went to half price! so i went to all the local aldi and bought all i could find. ended up with 80 double sockets ? 75p per double socket, result.

  20. hi all, was in maplin for a connector and saw cat 5 cable for sale. there were different ones, does it matter which one i buy and are they interconnectable? 100m for £30 a good buy? cheers

  22. up here i wasn't allowed the founds to encroach
  23. no part of your build is allowed to encroach onto your neighbours, this includes the foundations. once the founds are in you will need to be back from party wall for your wall.
