  1. Are you looking to use it as an open fire? Would you consider a woodburner stove?
  2. Not sure that is correct, large louvres ! I would bet the area left open would be larger than the area within the plastic fan cover (basing this on looking at my ASHP). or you could just paint it, get it sprayed/powder coated!
  3. Yes, I may build one for mine, to keep the weather off it but lots of ventilation.
  4. These https://www.screwfix.com/p/hep2o-push-fit-flexible-monobloc-tap-connectors-15mm-x-m10mm-x-300mm-2-pack/2043f one pair in stock Avonmouth ?
  5. I always use plumbers mate for these fixings https://www.screwfix.com/p/evo-stik-plumber-s-mait-750g/14477?tc=SB6&ds_kid=92700055281954514&ds_rl=1249404&gclid=CjwKCAiAgJWABhArEiwAmNVTB3LfJojSp9qyF9MufDHVbn5wb31Tm9SGXpblOuiue_aNX3QGQzNf6RoC5fgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds 9 in stock in avonmouth ?
  6. 12!!!!!, I have trouble coping with a bank of three ?.
  7. Welcome, what’s your preferred method of construction ? (or do you not have one). Also are you wanting to DIY any of it yourself? I went with brick and block as i like brick (no maintenance, looks good IMO) and we wanted “old cottage” style. But we still built in a passive esk way, lots of insulation, airtight etc.
  8. If you use conduit then it’s not such an issue just fill both ends. Cables in a chase with cover again fill both ends.
  9. Silicone or similar both ends of the chase
  10. How do you work out who pays what fir the electricity? Who,s house is it connected too?
  11. When I lived in a caravan on site during the build magpies used to congregate on the roof early morning and yes they sound like they had hobnail boots on.
  12. In fairness our Vortex was a bad design, blower box mounted on the lid that acted like a drum, but re located in ground is virtually silent. I did lots of investigation to find a non electric version but they did not stack up IMO.
  13. Or engaged a few little grey cells.
  14. Ditto, I fixed my windows behind the brickwork, in the insulation zone and inner blockwork skin has a bigger hole so windows inserted from inside called check reveals (and I angled my reveals ?).
  15. What, the car rustproofing stuff????
  16. Yup, that’s the one I used, and it’s not cheap,!,! two full coats, lasted 18months (on some bits). Waiting fir the rest to “burn off” then going “ oh natural”. When I used to live in Shropshire there was an old Manor House nearby that had oak windows and doors, never had any “modern” protection, all were a lovely silver colour and in great shape.
  17. Same with my oak conservatory that faces South, nothing stops it discolouring so I have decided to let it go grey/natural, it will still outlive me ?. My front door that faces North and within a porch is as good as new after a few years. UV damage is my thoughts.
  18. Yes badly designed, a fix could be recess the hinge bracket into the seat !!! (But make sure the screws don’t go right through ?) or you could bend it.
  19. Can’t remember who but someone on this forum was told the same about local slate so he got several samples and wrote the local quarry name on the back of a Spanish sample, passed
  20. Our water table is high, chap next door pt a pit in his garage and tried very hard to water proof it with a liner but it’s become an indoor/garage water feature ?‍♂️.
  21. Mine wanted to but I said no, sand cement parge/first coat then multi finish coat. Yes it’s windows, doors roof that is the biggest challenge re airtightness rather than the odd fixing.
  22. Simples https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PACK-GARDEN-SCARE-CAT-PEST-DETERRENT-REPELLENT-SCARER-NUISANCE-CONTROL-FOX-NEW/383594231904
