Yup, just make sure you use an insert in the pipe.
-
Have you built that yet ? ?
-
Always use new olives (ask me how I know ?).
-
I like to nail a length of renderers angle bead to the ends of the roofing battens, the Mortor will cling to this and I found the verge Mortor lasts a lot longer.
-
Are you sure it’s not running down from above?, that joint is above the water level In the trap (try a smear of Vaseline on the blue bit).
-
Immersions are usually back ups, legionella dosing (on a timer) or built into the ASHP to raise DHW to higher temps. What’s your set up?.
-
What about turning the bearer timber into a cill (sloping front edge and drip channel under the front edge?).

How does your garden grow?

We have had snowdrops for about a week here (well the bits I didnt dig up with the JCB ?).and daffs in bud. -
Frankly the loft extract was an afterthought, I had a spare extract (to make the number of supply and extract the same) and the unit is in the loft and thought any spare heat would rise to the highest point (ridge of the loft) so thought I may as well pull it back down to the heat exchanger. on another tact, I hung my unit (on rubber mounts) from the roof timbers so it was not sat on the bedroom/bathroom ceiling so no possibility of noise/vibration in the bedrooms etc. Works very well.

You can get insulated loft hatches with rubber seals but I don’t know how good they are.

Is my house about to fall down?
joe90 replied to Adsibob's topic in House Extensions & Conservatories
Why the need to have two sets of insurance, just more money printing IMO. -
Well mine takes many hours to change temp (probably because of the low flow temp) but yes mine runs 24/7 and only comes on when the hallway stat gets below 21’ so may be worth trying
-
I built one like that for my brother many years ago (no planning or building regs). Looks fine to me. How do you get on with your neighbour? They may complain about being overlooked (I would), easy to extend the fence/add trellis to keep them happy.
-
Q, is that before the blending valve?
-
Hi @Moggaman, my whole loft is fir storage only and has no “ridge storage” like your drawing, yes all my insulation (350mm) is between I beams in the actual structure and works very well. @SteamyTea recently posted that the loft was very stable temperature wise (he left some data recording gubbins up there).
-
Wow, my UFH temp is 25’ my DHW is heated to 48’ and I can hardly hold my hand under the hot tap, 40’ is very hot (IMO).
-
Yes, my build is “heavy”and it works very well at keeping temps very stable, I believe (I have no data to prove it) that most of my losses are due to wind wash, two story house in a windy location so if mine was built into the ground my losses would be very low. (But I also have a very high water table. Yes he did, but originally it was a heat distribution system only. I would love to see a follow up of temps and power usage to actually see if/how efficient it is!
-
My main contractor made his own, long length of aluminium channel with wooden handles bolted on each end (I had never heard the name either!!,)
-
Yes but people, cooking, lighting etc add to the heat input into the building (Jeremy cited this with his build,) Why? When he dug it out there wasn’t No, that was part of his original plan to distribute heat across the slab (again like Jeremy does, and his worked)
-
However it did work, I remember talking ground heat store and insulated wings being talked about over on the green building forum a few years ago. Hope we get to see the data in the next year or two.
-
My floors don’t feel warm either but the house is a steady 21’ give or take 1’. My buffer is 80 litres, my ASHP is on 24/7 controlled by a stat on the buffer tank and has never run out (that I have noticed). My total electricity usage in mid winter is £130 ish.

Checking that radiators get hot and the thermostat works is part of the commissioning after being installed!!!!

Mobility Access building control and regs help needed
joe90 replied to harrythehedgehog's topic in Building Regulations
I vote “just get on with it.” Don’t be bullied. Building regs would be required fir a new build or major change, but this is not (just be careful to not cover that air brick, or extend it under the new steps. Let us know how you get on ? -
These things are the same as air con units that are hung on walls all the time. However mine drips quite a bit so a little “roof” under it might be prudent ?
