  1. Rather than insulate and heat a whole garage fir a short time to do gym/pole workout why not infrared heaters,(like they have outside pubs ) they heat you, not the air just fir the short time their needed.
  2. pole dancing ? ? you may not want insulation with gym equipment, you will get a sweat on!!, my garage is not insulated at all, I wear thermals mid winter if I work out there which is a lot cheaper ?
  3. stump grinder ? Plenty of u tube vids on how to get rid of stumps.
  4. Depends on the size of screw, I prefer to pilot the “first piece” with the countersink in it so that the pieces are pulled together, but the other only if the screw diameter is likely to split the MDF. Long thin screws is my preferred choice in MDF in that sort of joint.
  5. dare I say NO. we did like @Moonshine says above, single blockwork with piers and is more than adequate. I agree with a big door, mine is 16ft (but I still can’t get my daily car in it as it’s full of “men toys” and “tools” ?‍♂️
  6. BCO dependant. I did a renovation for a couple who wanted to re use a UPV window that was fairly new which had no trickle vents. BCO Spotted it and said I needed to instal one. I found another authority who had it in writing that “night lock ventilation” was sufficient, I emailed it to him and asked him to provide proof trickle vents were required, he backed down.
  7. So does fairy liquid ?
  8. My bifolds are between house and a conservatory , great for letting light in floor to ceiling and if the temp is above 20’ in the conservatory they are opened (to the kitchen diner and another to the lounge). I call it my solar collector!!!. In high summer when it’s hot we keep them closed to stop the house overheating, but that’s rare.
  9. Ah, misunderstood you. Sorry.
  10. why do you need a cavity?
  11. Mine are 2.3m and three pane and we think they are fine, depends on taste I guess.
  12. I can’t remember what I paid now but certainly not extravagant.
  13. Not necessarily!!!!, my bifolds were made locally and have compression seals all round (my spec), it also has brush seals (which are not very airtight at all).
  14. Most people don’t even take any notice of the SAP rating for the houses they buy!!!
  15. how the hell are they going to know?. find it and cover the hole up (to stop someone falling in it) or put a post in the ground to mark it and fill the hole in.
  16. Actually I have one of those lever handle outside taps and prefer them. ?
  17. Another good reason for MVHR. Perhaps I was lucky but I bought mine on Ebay for a couple of hundred, yes a punt but it worked. Once it’s installed you can always change out the unit for another, a bit like UFH, once the pipes are in it’s easy, very difficult to retrofit.
  18. I also am surprised at that, it’s got to be more efficient than an open window or trickle vent lat let’s in cold air surely. As an aside, because we live in the middle of knowhere we tend to open doors and windows in summer so I switch mine off, only on in winter!
  19. Top tip..... screw the tap into the wall fitting with PTFE tape before fixing, otherwise you will never get the tap upright and water tight. https://www.screwfix.com/p/outside-tap-with-double-check-valve-15mm-x/37241#product_additional_details_container https://www.screwfix.com/p/hose-union-back-plate-15mm/56415
  20. I did all the plumbing apart from the connection to the unvented tank, the plumber was a neighbour and I cleared it with him before I started.
  21. For our bifolds I used separate concrete lintels for each skin and have a 200mm cavity. Because ours is brick built i cut bricks into slips and stuck them on the outside to match.
  22. Lucky, lucky, that I lived in a Freezing caravan through winter, up to my ass in flooded morass, working endlessly and never ending......don’t get me started (oh i did ?).
  23. Ha, when I moved to rural Devon I had ultra low profile tyres on wide alloys with “sport “ suspension on my motor , broke three of them and various punctures in a short time, and a broken spring. Quickly changed to a “normal” car with “normal” tyres. No problem since ?
  24. Yes, no shoe at the bottom as straight into 110mm adapter and drains.
